Overview

This book is about Waylon and Mary who hike through the forest, with many adventures. Waylon runs into an orca, separated from its pod, which means family. At first it circles his canoe. The young orca breaches, which means jumps up, out of the water. The orca did this to see what was inside the canoe. Once he saw it was a small human boy, he headed to find his own family towards the San Juan Islands. He most likely thought it was a seal. Canoes are often mistaken for seals, in the Orca mind. The Orca can be afraid of humans, but they are also dangerous. Waylon was filled with extra energy, adrenaline; because he knew this and quickly left the area, paddling as fast as he could; back to the beach, where his parents were resting. His own eyes had never been opened so big before. Many other events take place on their journey with their families hiking in the cedar forest.
