Overview

After three trying months, Jace must get through one last week of work with elder twin brothers, both on parole for burglary, both total jerks. And then he's free of the family who've held him down for seventeen years. On arrival at the eerie locale of their final contract, a young girl with a crippled body warns him off Grey Manor, insisting no-one enter the abandoned mansion. But a lost cameo worth two million dollars is hidden inside and Jace faces the impossible task of keeping his greedy brothers out. When he witnesses a grisly death at the hands of the supposedly missing Lady Grey, Jace learns the girl's words are not easily dismissed, forced to unravel the mystery before it unravels him. Meet the Author

The fact the real world is not as appealing as the ones I create was obvious in kindergarten when I ran away from school to have a personal chat with Santa, triggering a police search. My imaginary friend, Wendy, who often came in handy to eat my peas, generously took the blame.

I feel for the writer hoping for genuine reviews of her hard work. To the person complaining it's short: this is obviously a short story by the standard conventions. They are good for phones and filling time on trips etc. In any case it is FREE! And as far as they go, it's terrific. The characters are vividly drawn, the setting eerie and the story compelling. The writing is professional and contains no grammatical or spelling mistakes, common with debut indie authors. She obviously cares alot about what she does and the least a reviewer can do is focus on the story and provide honest feedback.

I am posting 5 stars to counteract the ingrate who posted 1star just to ask if the book was good. Writers work very hard on their stories, and I for one would be insulted if someone gave me one star without reading what I wrote! INSULTING! You want to know if it's a good book?? Here's a thought READ IT!

Wow, some of you guys have a hard time reading the overviews. This is short because, as the description states in the bracket at the end, it is a short story! And if you cannot even read and understand the overview, it does not bode well for the authenticity of your complaints about editing and typos. The horror genre is filled with hackneyed and predictable outcomes (People die, which is depressing. If you want happy fluff, don't read horror) and this is certainly no worse than many published offerings. This was as much a character study as a ghostly exercise and I liked it!

Story line was wondrful...suspense in all the right...uncertainty of the heros fate...spectacular twist at the end.

Good ghost story with a touch of romance. Fast-paced and creepy, never got bored.

I loved this story, highly recommend it! The language is a bit odd & antiquated, but it does take place in modern times as cell phones are mentioned. If you can get past the odd language, it's a great, shorter story... creepy & fun.

Honestly, at least give it 3 stars! If you want to know if a book is good, then read it! I've never met anyone more lazy...

This was a really good story. The beginning was slow and I was a little confused as to who the story was being told by... It came along quickly, though, and I was enthralled the whole time. I enjoyed reading!

This was about a haunted house and how nobody comes back alive (sounds familiar, right?). It's based in rural England, and it reminds me of a good horror movie, just in words. There's suspense, mystery, and even a minor love interest. It's a great read.

I assume this is an Australian author, only as there are terms and sayings I am unfamiliar with, but other than that I really liked this story. I would have liked to find out what happened to Jace and Laini.
