Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Rachel Miller
This wonderful story is about the day in the life of a pretty outrageous zoo. It starts in the morning, when the animals are waking up and continues to night, when all of the visitors have gone home and the animals are ready to sleep. Each page has the same perspective, but different things are happening based on the time of day. Funny things happen, such as seals splashing people, as do serious things, like the zookeepers feeding the animals. There is a lot going on in these pictures. The words explain a lot of what is happening, but readers will really have to examine each picture carefully to see everything. To the left of each picture are some images to look for in the double-page spread. Some are easy to find, while others are a little harder. This really encourages the reader to try to see everything going on. To the right of each picture is a clock that shows the time of day, as well as the same pictures on every page. The picture of what is happening is in a more vivid color that the rest. This is an outstanding way for children to understand a zoo as well as learn about telling time. This book is both entertaining and educational. Members of every age group would love looking at everything going on! This book is from the "Follow the Action" series. Reviewer: Rachel Miller
