This is a short pamphlet about the Battle of the Mine during the American Civil War and the part played by the Thirtieth Regiment United States Colored Troops as written by General Delevan Bates, who served as a colonel in the 30th. It is an interesting piece -- with the usual descriptions of African American troops which make us wince -- in addition to two very small pieces about the Confederate Veterans and the Daughters of the Confederacy following the conclusion of the war.
