Why this music isn`t coming out of every speaker in the land, I can`t figure out. Little has been written since that can hold a candle to it. Along with Marshall Tucker Band, Lynard Skynard and the Allman Brothers Band it defines the way life should be in America. Simply the BEST!

The lyrics are an interesting mixture of fable and story that focuses on greed and boldness. It can inspire many. The music is ''music'' to MY ears and I pity the people who think otherwise because they are missing out on a really good peice of music.

The ''Devil Went Down to Georgia'' is a classic work that will never lose interest over time. Charlie Daniels succeeds in combining his upbeat, instrumental style into an interesting story involving egotism and greed. However in this story, the greedy boy, Johnny, is rewarded with a gold guitar instead of the eternal suffering that he would have endured had he lost to the devil. The addictive violin chorus interwoven into the story creates the competitive atmosphere that was played out between the devil and Johnny. This fast moving chorus helps involve the listener in the struggle between the two characters. Most stories lose the reader's, or listener's, interest after a couple times of hearing it. In ''The Devil Went Down to Georgia'' the instrumentals and atmosphere of the competition keep the listener coming back to hear it again. The fact that Johnny won while tempting fate satisfies the listener because this is how the listener would like to live his/her life, tempting fate, but prevailing in the end. This song's upbeat chorus and excellent story are two factors, that, when combined, create a tune that will be enjoyed for years to come. Many would argue that one can only relate to it if one is from the southern US. However, because of its classic struggle between ambition and greed, all people can relate to it. Charlie Daniel's truly created a universal and ageless masterpiece.
