Meet the Author

As a reporter and PR specialist, Richard Jones covered medical issues, feature stories, space stories, and wrote and edited the Florida Engineer alumni magazine. While in Ocala, he won a statewide excellence-in-reporting award for his work on a series of articles following a boxer's death in the ring. Working with Barry Ozer, Jones began The Dude's Guide weblog in 2006. Jones also writes and has sold numerous short stories (byrichardjones.com) and is working on two urban fantasy novels and an expansion of his award-winning YA story, the Mismatched Monster. Jones lives in Charlotte, NC, with his wife and three sons, ages 19, 18, and 13.

Barry Robert Ozer is a 42-year-old father of four children. His two sons are 13 and 12, and his two daughters are 10 and 7 years old. He lives in Charlotte, NC, with his wife, a pediatrician. After staying home with the kids for a while, Barry eventually fled back to work where he is a financial advisor with a major global-investment bank. A graduate of the University of Florida, Barry always assumed kids would be something that happened to other people. Until he and his wife found themselves becoming foster parents to four of the most fantastic kids in existence. An avid golfer and serial entrepreneur, Barry is constantly working on projects for his clients, himself, his kids and his wife. In his free time, he wishes he had some free time. Looking back, going from father of none to father of four in six months, was only the first "joy jolt" his kids brought his way.

I loved it. This book had me rolling on the floor with laughter. Not only that, but I actually remembered the tips and tricks from the book. Although I'm sure my son wondered why I kept smiling and laughing while I was changing his diaper. This is a really good book. It's definitely worth reading, especially if you're a new dad like me and you don't have time to suffer through all those huge books on babies written for women. This books is by a guy for guys. Great stuff.

Fantastic, ROFLMAO book for dads! Excellent information packed into a very funny and easy to read format. This book is a must read for new dads. If you are the type of guy that just can't handle "what to expect when you are expecting," this is the book for you. Seriously, the book is filled with excellent information, and you don't have to read it cover to cover. Its well organized to allow you to jump to a specific chapter to learn what you need to survive. This will surely turn out to be one of the classics, a book for guys written by guys.

If you’re a dude and a recent Dad, then this is the guide for you. “A Dude’s Guide to Babies” by Richard Jones and Barry Robert Ozer is a humorous, light hearted look at a very serious topic: How to navigate life with a new little one in tow? I totally enjoyed the personal, although somewhat embarrassing, accounts by the authors and their friends about the many challenges and lessons learned during the initial years of fatherhood. It’s geared toward guys, but I must admit that gals can gain some valuable insight from this guide as well. From how to avoid being peed on to when to switch to solid foods and everything in between, this book covers just about every topic concerning newborns and toddlers. If it didn’t, references are included for further investigation. I felt some items were a bit repetitive, but I imagine with a baby in one arm and this guide in the other, the reader may appreciate it. With numerous top ten lists, references to movies dudes could relate to, and quizzes so easy that anyone up to their ankles in dirty diapers can breeze through with flying colors, I recommend this book to any dude planning on being a dad or recently surprised with the delightful news. After having such great fun with this guide, I am totally looking forward to what these guys would write about being dads of teens.
