Ian is an investigator with special powers. He is called in to investigate the murder of Tom Eskew. His murder is being pinned on Renaissance Faire owners that rent some land from him. It turns out his wife has been missing for a year and his neighbor gets killed too. Who is the killer? What are Ian’s powers? I am not gonna tell you! You will have to read the book to see.
I found this book very intriguing. The story is realistic and believable. The murder, mystery is well planned out and leaves you wondering to the end who is guilty. I liked the present day setting and the way the renaissance faire is explained and portrayed it never felt like a history lesson or an info dump. The back story of Ian’s power’s and past was also slowly unraveled. The whole story was nice and smooth and intriguing. I did get the feel this was a second book in a series. In searching I found Inside Passage to Murder which looks like it may be the first book. Having said this, the book is definitely stand alone.. You don’t need to read the first to understand anything, but I have to admit…. I checked because I WANT to read the other.
Recommendations: If you like a good murder mystery set in present day times, with paranormal twists this one is it!
