    A wonderful book

Although it's a slow read, it's a very wonderful story and I deffinately suggest it. I think Laurens van der Post has written a story that is enjoyable and interesting, but mainly it teaches teens and young adults alot about how life is, in real-life situations.

    boring

this book was seriously boring...it just has too many details and the story isn't all that interesting. i didn't get any exciting imagery or anything like that. I wouldn't recommend it for fellow teenagers.

    That book that changed everything...

I am sorehearted to find that so few people have read this book and it's predicessor. I first saw the film adaptation of this book and then later discovere the books in my Grandfather's library. Laurens van der Post became one of my favorite writers and am always recommending A Story Like the Wind and A Far off Place to my friends as a must-read. The story is amazing, but even more striking to me was the way that the story was told. THere is so much information in every sentance, and so much insight into cultures and individual minds. It changed the way I thought about many things and I read it repeatedly still, loving what I learn from it.
