    The New fulfills the Old

Hahn makes a superb presentation of the covenants leading up to and being fulfilled by Christ. This is a must read for any one interested in understanding Scripture. Hahn's style makes even the most complex issues seem easy to tackle. I have used this book in teaching Junior High and High School students. They loved it and learned so much.

A story of love between God and man

I found this to be a truly remarkable book. Hahn has obviously achieved a high level of biblical scholarship. But he always manages to distill it in very readable prose. Unlike so many other Scripture scholars, he wears his great learning lightly. In every chapter I discovered profound insights into important and difficult texts of Scripture, interwoven with a warm and engaging sense of humor. It's clear that Hahn writes to feed God's people the Bread of Life, and not simply to impress his scholarly peers. By the end of the book, I was overwhelmed with a new sense of appreciation for the rich harmony between the Old and New Testaments. As an evangelical convert to Catholicism and a newly ordained priest, I speak for many fellow-priests and former seminarians in saying, THIS is how Scripture ought to be taught!

Clearly written and deeply inspiring overview of Scripture

Finally, a Catholic guide to Scripture that takes us into the depths, but without ever losing the simple beauty and clarity of the truth of God's love and wisdom and justice. The author really makes the Bible come alive, especially the Old Testament.
