    Buyer Beware

    Though this is still an excellent field guide, buyers should be aware that this is the exact same book published in 1977 (as the inside copyright shows). The book was rejacketed for the 1999 release but none of the references or information (including recommended reading in the back) has been updated.

    Great gift for those who love the wilderness.

    This is a handy little book to take with you on a wilderness hike. You never know what mother nature will throw at you and it is always good to be prepared.

    Fine

    It is too large to bring afield. It includes color photographs. I bought Tom Brown's around the same time which has good information on utilization but mumbo jumbo and mere illustrations. Maybe there cannot be a perfect field guide of this sort.
