I really loved this book. I found that it was perfect for a beginner, and also for someone with basic knowledge of rocks and minerals. What I liked the most, was the organization this book displayed.

i love the Peterson guides, so I ordered this for my 7-year old rock hound, but it's not a book for kids. All the illustrations are in the middle, not on the pages where the specimens are described. Should have known better. Will keep it for later.

This book is among the best I've read on the subject of rocks and minerals. It has plenty of information and a section of pictures. It includes proper names for minerals and lots of different info. Great for any Rock and Mineral Collector of all Ages!!
