This is one of those books that makes you realize that the kind of man on this book is no longer around. But the story is so beautiful, that you just can't put the book down. LOVED the book, i would recomend it, if u get it, u will not reget it.

Lissa & Jess are both characters you want to root for throughout this entire book. And the love scenes are worth reading repeatedly! Lissa is a strong heroine and her past only makes her a more colorful character. Shirl Henke hit the mark with this one!

This was a beautiful and heart-wrenching story, and I didn't want to put it down. Ms. Henke did a great job of pulling the reader in and allowing them to feel the emotion in the characters. When Jess let his guard down, I found myself wishing my husband were more like him...but when he had his walls up, I wanted to yell at him to quit being so selfless and trying to do what he THINKS is best for everyone else, and find out what they think is best for themselves. He finally comes around, though, and it's very touching. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is that I felt like the loves scenes were lacking and rushed. With all the other emotion throughout the book, I would have liked to feel more of that emotion as well, and it just wasn't quite hot enough for me.
