About the Author

Peter C. Brenner Jr. was born on February 23, 1960, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, to parents Peter and Elanor Brenner, who originally hailed from Staten Island, New York. Growing up in southern New Jersey with his brother Craig and sister Laura, Peter’s early years were filled with adventure and a deep connection to the outdoors. After graduating from Cinnaminson High School in 1979, Peter briefly attended Nasson College in Springvale, Maine, pursuing an interest in environmental science. But college life soon became more about soccer and outdoor recreation than academics. In the early ’80s, a hitchhiking trip to Boulder, Colorado, sparked his love for the state, which would become his home in the years that followed. Peter transferred to West Virginia University in 1982 to continue playing soccer and embarked on another hitchhiking adventure to Alaska. After dropping out of college following his Alaskan journey, Peter turned his attention to cooking, taking up full-time work in New Jersey. In 1984, he moved to Vail, Colorado, and started as a breakfast and lunch cook with Vail Associates. His culinary journey took him through various roles, including working with the Westin Hotel in Vail from 1985 to 1990. Along the way, he married Anne M. Kremer in December 1997.
