Overview

Tidings of magpies,
Ducks in a brace,
Elks in a gang, in a galloping race.”

This joy-filled romp through creation captures your child’s imagination with the silly-sounding (but true) names of animal groups. Rhythmic verse celebrates the wonder of God’s imagination displayed in his creatures–from a clutter of cats and a mischief of rats to an army of frogs and a drift of fat hogs.

Along with all the wild, wacky, and winsome animals, this rollicking adventure leads children to an unexpected encounter with a most unusual grouping, one that reveals God’s greatest artistry and creativity: a blessing of kids.

    Love it!!

The art is both funny and precious while the text is informative. The religious association is very faint (references to God on the first page and Genesis on the last), so this book is a perfect gift for any child without upsetting parents of separate religious beliefs. Each page illustrates the text perfectly and in detail - a gang of elk runs from the cops while rocking their gold-tipped antlers, a sleuth of bears investigates a crime at the campsite, and so many more!

This is my new go-to gift, especially paired with a Douglas stuffed animal(bear, owl, lion, or hamster).
