A Book of PassionA Book about the best game of allA Book that has funny stories as well as poignant ones, but must of allA Book about GOLF
Gene Westmoreland writes about more than just the rules of golf in his collection of essays about a subject he knows better than just about anybody. the book gives us not only insights in the sometimes bewildering rules of the game but also into what makes it one of the best ways to enhance your life. That may sound like heady stuff, but Westmoreland is anything but a stuffy philosopher. His writing is easy, his approach to the subject is thorough without being pedantic, and his outlook on the game is not so much reverential as it is appreciative. He makes a great case for playing by the rules but doesn't hesitate to loosen them up a bit to make the game more fun for duffers just out to enjoy a walk in the sunshine.
I recently read " A Game for Life - rules and rewards by Gene Westmoreland. I've been playing golf for forty-five years and have read numerous books about the game and it's rules. This is by far the best I've come across. Mr. Westmoreland's examples, explanations and personal experiences make this mandatory reading for all golfers, particularly experienced golfers who think they know the rules. Anyone who reads this book will come away with a added appreciation for this wonderful game we play.
