Six years ago, Elizabeth Harewood and Lord Roland Penhallow were London's golden couple, young and beautiful and wildly in love. Forced apart by her scheming relatives and his clandestine career, Lilibet and Roland buried their passion beneath years of duty and self-denial, until a chance holiday encounter changes everything they ever knew about themselves...and each other.
But Miss Elizabeth Harewood is now the Countess of Somerton, estranged wife of one of England's most brutal and depraved aristocrats, and she can't afford the slightest hint of scandal to her name. When Roland turns up mysteriously at the castle where she's hidden herself away, she struggles to act as a lady should, but the gallant lover of her youth has grown into an irresistibly dashing and dangerous man, and temptation is only a single kiss away...

Meet the Author
Juliana Gray began writing as a child to relieve the tedium of being sentenced to her room, and later turned to romance to relieve the tedium of unsatisfactory suitors. Sadly, despite five years’ residence in the most exclusive areas of London, she never met a single duke, though she once shared a taxi with a future baron. Juliana’s debut romance trilogy, including A Lady Never Lies, A Gentleman Never Tells, and A Duke Never Yields, was largely written when she should have been sleeping. She enjoys dark chocolate, champagne, and dinner parties, and despises all forms of exercise except one.

This second book of the Penhallow-Harewood trilogy is thoroughly romantic. Through the machinations of the Duke of Olympia who decided that his grandson Roland Penhallow was too young and too shallow to marry, Roland was unexpectedly sent on a secret spying mission for Britain, neatly separating him from Elizabeth Harewood. Feeling jilted and forsaken, she marries the disreputable, powerful Lord Somerton who also loves her. Despite her fear and loathing of her husband, Elizabeth gives birth to the second love of her life, son Phllip. After 6 miserable years Lilibet joins the Harewood ladies and, with her son, flees her awful marriage. After 6 celibate years, despite a reputation to the contrary, Roland has become a well-seasoned spy, still longing for his love. They meet after those long years apart when the Penhallow men and the Harewood women inadvertently rent the same villa in Tuscany at the same time..There the love between Roland and Lilibet is quickly rekindled, and the misunderstandings between them resolved. She's a firebrand when it comes to keeping her son safe, and she fears that Somerton will find them and take Phillip from her. Will Roland be able to prove that he is more than a match for her husband?
This is the second book in the series, and it was just as delightful as the first book, A Lady Never Lies. The male lead, Roland, is both dashing and serious. Sometimes, with romance novels I find that I like one person in the couple more than the other one. However, both main characters in this book held their own. The suppporting characters are just as entertaining to read about. You will love this series. I can't wait for the third book!
