    Sweet, sexy, scary and fun

"Keenan was used to living with hundreds of people." So says Minnette Meador in the opening line of her paranormal urban fantasy, A Ghost of a Chance. And soon the reader is learning just how different those hundreds are, as Keenan takes the elevator to his office on the twenty-third floor. A view of Mount Hood places the novel convincingly in Portland Oregon, and the scene is set for all those curious unrealities of Oregon's cool and misty shadows. Isabella, from HR, provides excellent sexual interest, very pleasantly and humorously viewed through poor Keenan's eyes, while ghosts provide the sort of background commentary that any young man in love would love to avoid.

Keenan's love for Isabella will soon be tested as the ultimate in sensual strangers visits his dreams, leaving him desperately praying to the porcelain god. But his ghost friends make up for, as well as causing, his lack of human friends, and soon Keenan's hoping his world might come to rights. Ah, forlorn hope.

The author lovingly recreates the Portland neighborhoods of Keenan's adventures, adding restaurants filled with the right scents and sounds, the odd deserted church (yes, we have plenty of them) and some genuine scares of the legal and lethal variety. Dialog's convincing, characters, living and dead, are full of hidden depths, and the mystery behind it all is nicely plotted and well-timed.

A fun, satisfying, definitely sexy novel with great humor, plenty of action, and enough mystery to keep you pondering after the last page turns. plus it's very recognizably, definitely, Portland!

Disclosure: Hey, I do sometimes buy books just for me! And if you'd followed Minnette's blogposts during the release of this book, you'd go out and buy it too.

This book was definitely r-rated. That being said, I loved it. Keenan Swanson has a lifestyle not many would envy. He's surrounded by ghosts, making it difficult to have a "normal" life. That's bad enough, but now he's attracted to a co-worker and a horny succubus visits him, and everything he's taken for granted spins out of control. I liked the way that everything concluded and it had multiple twists and turns to reach the end of the book.

    Very Unique!

I've just finished reading this wonderful book. It was humorous, intriguing and very interesting. Humorous because of some of the characters, I got a real kick out of some of the ghosts. Intriguing because there was no way to guess what would happen next. And, Interesting because there were many parts that I had never seen or heard of in any of the thousand or so books I have read in my life so far.

My favorite part of the book is how Minnette captures people's personality traits so well with barely any words.. She describes a room full of ghost so well that I was able to picture it in my mind just like a movie. She's a wonderful writer. I thought I would like this book but instead I loved it.

It left me satisfied, with no questions unanswered. But, I was left thinking about it for days. I began to wonder if certain things could be possible and it gave me many "What if" questions.

A book that sticks in your mind for that long even after starting a new book has many, many merits. I totally recommend this book, it has my seal of approval! But don't just take me at my word, Read it!
