Overview

There's a ghost on the loose—and a fox in the henhouse.

Four years ago, the Eternal Slumber Funeral Home put Chicken Teater in the ground. Now undertaker Emma Lee Raines is digging him back up. The whole scene is bad for business, especially with her granny running for mayor and a big festival setting up in town. But ever since Emma Lee started seeing ghosts, Chicken's been pestering her to figure out who killed him.

With her handsome boyfriend, Sheriff Jack Henry Ross, busy getting new forensics on the old corpse, Emma Lee has time to look into her first suspect. Chicken's widow may be a former Miss Kentucky, but the love of his life was another beauty queen: Lady Cluckington, his prize-winning hen. Was Mrs. Teater the jealous type? Chicken seems to think so. Something's definitely rotten in Sleepy Hollow—and Emma Lee just prays it's not her luck.

I have found Tanya Kappes's writing to be light hearted and enjoyable reading as I explored A Ghostly Grave and Sleepy Hollow once again.   Although it was a paranormal read, it is not the normal seriously scary paranormal read.   Kappes throws together a mix of humor, mystery, tongue in cheek paranormal with a small southern town twist and a mildly insecure heroine and a touch of romance with the frustrated small town sheriff-boyfriend.   A recipe baked to perfection for those seeking some easy and light hearted  reading. Kappes's characters are portrayed in true southern charm and seem realistic in their small town gossipy mannerisms.  The story flows fluently and quickly.

This book is even better than the first! I love Chicken Teater's ghost! You can tell the author really knows southern people too. I have lived in the south all my life and this is how we are...take it or leave it! I love Emma Lee, she has spunk and I love her Gram, Zula Rae, she is a hoot! I can not wait until the next book comes out!

Loving this "Ghostly" series! I really enjoyed the first book in the Ghostly Southern Mysteries series (A Ghostly Undertaking) so I was really excited to read the second in the series, A Ghostly Grave . As much as I loved the first I do believe that I liked this one even more. Chicken was hilarious and had me laughing a lot throughout the book. Just what I like with a good mystery ... some good humor. As with all of Tonya Kappes' novels, I am really excited for the next book in the series.

I actually would give this a 3 1/2 star. I give it a lower rating just because I am not crazy about a lot of the secondary characters. Sorry to say but for me granny comes off as self centered, Emma Lee's sister might as well be an enemy, and Chicken I really could understand why someone would murder him. That being said I love Emma Lee, she tries to do right at all times no matter what the consequences may be to her. I enjoy her growing friendship with the yoga instructor. The mystery was excellent and kept me guessing, although I did figure the who before Emma Lee. I will continue on with this series as I enjoyed the first one so much and the mystery in this one was good, I can't wait to see what the next one brings.

Another great book from TK! love this series! The characters are well-written and this second installment is no let-down! Chicken Teater insists that Emma Lee find out who murdered him. There's his beauty queen wife... was she jealous enough of her husband's beloved prize chicken to send him to the KFC in the sky? Emma and her boyfriend (and cop) Jack Henry need to figure this out before Emma clucks her last.

A Ghostly Grave was the perfect addition to this series. Tonya Kappes has such a colorful way with words, that her small southern towns jump right off the page. Her quirky characters spring to life, and I easily become engrossed in their drama. Emma Lee's Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite places to visit. This book is full of laughter and mystery, and is a magnificent distraction to whatever reality is throwing your way. I was wondering what Chicken Teater's story was going to be like. I wasn't disappointed. It took us to all kinds of different places, and I absolutely loved it! I'm ready for book #3.

4 STARS This is book two in the A Ghostly Southern Mystery. I have read both books and have enjoyed them. A Ghostly Grave starts by digging up a grave. They know he was murdered four years ago because his ghost Chicken Teater told Emma Lee he was poisoned. Emma Lee runs her family business, the Eternal Slumber Funeral Home with her older sister. Emma is the undertaker. After a head injury Emma sees ghosts of murder victims. Her family think she is crazy. Her boyfriend believes her. Sheriff Jack Henry Ross is now investigating the death of Chicken. He wants Emma to stop investigating and just tell him what Chicken says. Chicken Teater was married to a former Miss Kentucky. He enters his chicken Lady Cluckington into contests and doted more on her than his wife. If his wife wants to inherit from Chicken she has to keep Lady Cluckington well and continue to enter her in contests. Emma can not stop investigating Chicken's death. Especially with Chicken always going with her and telling her stuff. This has lots of humor, drama, mystery and action. With a small town southern flavor of characters. I would read more from Tonya in the future. I was given this ebook to read from Harper Collins and agreed to give honest review of A Ghostly Grave.

Fantastic Series! This is a fantastic series; this is the second book in the Ghostly Southern Mysteries series by Tonya Kappes. Emma Lee Raines has started seeing ghosts and now she can’t get them to leave her alone. Four years ago, the Eternal Slumber Funeral Home put Chicken Teater in his grave. His ghost is telling Emma Lee Raines that he was murdered and wants her to find out who killed him. The first suspect that she finds is Chicken’s widow Marla Marie, when she finds out that Chicken had an agreement that Marla Marie will inherit his land if she takes care of Chicken’s prize hen Lady Cluckington. This is a fantastic, funny mystery with southern charm. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and see what trouble Emma Lee can get into next. A Review copy was provided to me by the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
