Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

If the Conner and Alix Bailey thought that saving their mother in The Enchantress Returns ended their scary Land of Stories adventures, they were wrong. Now both these 13-year-old twins will have to wrestle with major threats to the fairy-tale world. To find the key that unlocks a centuries-old mystery, Conner travels to Europe with his classmate Bree and the wonderfully unruly Mother Goose. Meanwhile back in the Land of Stories, Alex is beginning to realize that the ability to grant wishes is more easily wished for than achieved. An imaginative episode of an acclaimed series. (P.S. Many readers will know author Chris Colfer as "Kurt Hummel" on Glee. His first two Land of Stories books were so popular that Little, Brown signed him up for three more!)

    So excited!!

I am so excited for this to come out and I hope they never end! After reading the first and second the books are constantly in my mind. My curiosity and envy of the characters are always growing. I have always had trouble thinking of my favorite books because there are so many amazing ones but after reading the first two of the books I know what it is. Personally though I believe the first one may have been slightly better because the second one was eerier but still fantastic. This is a series that I will remember till the day I die. It is too perfect. I recomend this book to anyone willing. It was so good I read in a day and a half eventhrough its size. This series is better than anything else! I would do so much to be in the Land of Stories for a day. I love this book and not just because of the author. This book was on my wishlist before I noticed that it was written by an actor in my favorite tv show. This series was solid gold perfection and the best thing in the world. My words don't do it justice. This is the best series ever!!!

    Awesome books

These books are amazing! I can't wait until this one comes out! These books are a mix of the old and new. Chris Colfer does an amazing job of adding some explanation to old fairytales.

Read if you want to know what to expect.

I loved the first and second books(second is my favorite)but this is just-different. I mean ,like LOVE?!!!!!! Dude....... This is CRAZY!!! Emmerich and Bree having magical blood! Dude I think you wanted to put AS much unbeliveable info as you could in here. Like the Grande Armee coming back like five minutes after they were defeated? The Masked Man being Alex's DAD?!

    One amazing book!

First of amazing book! 2: I really hope Bree and the boy come bacl again. 3: it was good just not as adventurous as #2. 4: I happily let everyone know that Chris Colfer has been given a deal to write posably 2 more books with his publisher. 5: you must read the first two books before you read this one. 6: ( do not read this if you dont want to have the book spoiled.)

What the heck! What sicko leaves his perfectly good life, kids, and wife to think he is dead!?! If he knew it would bring them pain then why do it! Also why do you grin and snicker if you just told you daughter who thought you were dead you were her enemy! Plus why would he fall in love with Little Bo Peep!

Anyway I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fairytales, ecspecially who like modern twist on classic fairy tales. This book is also meant for middle school kids. But is also good for 5th grade students. It is also a great book to read to kids if they are a high or advance reader for their age.
Thanks for reading my review and thanks to Chris Colfer for making such a great series, spanielover071907

I was excited for the release of this third book in The Land of Stories series because I loved the first two, but it left something to be desired for. There is too much going on in regards to characters, certain parts of various chapters read as a run-on sentence. I could only skim through those chapters hoping to quickly move on to the next. My other complain is that editing of the text needs to be tightened. Chris Colfer is a talented writer but this is not his best work in The Land of Stories series.

    Wait a sec?

If the Masked Man is Alex's dad, the twins have a brother! So, he isn't dead, but why would he leave the twins? He LOVED them from what we hear, so what happened with Mrs. Bailey?
