Overview

Finally, for all free folk of air, land, and water seeking knowledge of the Great Ga'Hoole Tree; its ways, its days, its heroes known and unknown... a Guide!
Studious by nature, fortunate to have been present at the most glorious moments in the tree's recent history, and above all honored to count as friends its most ardent champions, I, Otulissa, have decided to write a compendium, a catchall -a guide, in short- to the history, life, and spirit of the tree. Pause a moment before the next adventure begins to read of its natural history, its origin, and yearly changes. Read of its lesser-known heroes: of Joss, brave messenger of legends; of the brothers Ifghar and Ezylryb and the treachery that bound them; of Theo, the peaceful warrior.

This is a really good book! It tells you some stories about the owls, the history of the Tree, how to become a guardian, and much more. It is told by Otulissa. My favorite story is the one about Ifghar and Lyze Of Kiel. It costs a bit more than the main series, but it is worth the extra two dollars.

This book is about life in the Great Ga'Hoole Tree. It is written by Otulissa, one of the owlets in the series who grows up to become a scholar, warrior, teacher and Guardian of Ga'Hoole. Being an historian, she knows about the important people, events, celebrations, chaws (classes) that are part of Ga'Hoolian History. She is living during a new era in the history of Ga'Hoole, when there have been many changes. Boran, Barran, Strix Struma, Ezylryb and Coryn have died. The new generation of Guardians has inherited the Great Tree. This is their history, their present life and their future, according to Otulissa. After you read the series, this is a great book to read.

The Guide Book to the Great Tree is finally here, and it was more than worth the wait! Everything is included from information about yearly celebrations at the Great Ga'Hoole Tree to interesting stories of characters readers will recognize from the series but otherwise know relatively little about, such as Strix Struma and Ifghar. There's even a handy, though rather brief, owl dictionary in the back. And of course, no Guide Book to the Great Tree would be complete without a fold-out, full-color map of the Great Ga'Hoole Tree itself, which is also included. I highly recommend this book to all fans of the series, though it would be wise to first read the series itself, for spoiler reasons. All in all, a great read.

If you haven't read at least one 'Guardians of Ga'Hoole' book that you didn't like, this is your book. It explains traditions, aspects of characters like Theo, Ifghar, etc. However, if you don't give one iota (I don't think I spelled "iota" right) about Owls in general, don't waste your time.

This book has some information about most of the owls at the end of the book. There are some stories on certain owls for ex. Twilight. Also a glosary is in the back. Good illustrations. I would reccomend the Warriors series by Erin Hunter ( first book is Into the Wild) and The Wolves of the Beyond by Kathryn Lasky ( I think the first book is called Lone Wolf) to someone who finished this series and loved it.

A fantastic high-flying guide to the Great Ga'Hoole tree. Recommed you read the whole series. When you finish the Guardian books, read the Wolves of the beyond books by Kathryn Lasky.
