About the Author

Kurt Smith is a professor emeritus in the philosophy department of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He has 30 years of experience teaching critical thinking skills. While at the university, he was appointed to his town's Zoning Hearing Board, on which he served for 12 years, serving as Chairperson for several. He brings a unique combination of experience to help teach valuable critical-thinking skills to the everyday citizen who now serves on their town's Zoning Hearing Board.
