Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Part of the "A First Words Book," this offering in the series focuses on items around the house. It opens with the living room, and the words identifying the items run around the border of the pages. In this spread, see a lamp, plant, chair, sofa, picture, and more. The same format is followed as one moves to the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Then, the spreads change to itemize what might be found in the house—toys, food, clothes, pets, and tools. The pets section is really the most questionable, since it is not too likely that kids would have a pet pony, even though many may dream about owning a pony. The tools are items that adults would use, but kids whose parents are handy would be familiar with a screwdriver, nails, hammer, and the like. There is plenty to point at, name, and learn about in this sturdy board book. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
