Author's Choice ReviewsA Heart For Africa tells the story of the Rafiki organization; its beginnings, progress, and glimpses of personal stories. While many organizations strive to "change the multitudes with mass programs," Rafiki seeks to change lives "one orphan at a time" (Introduction, Rosemary Jensen). Annie Thorp's work, both in pictures and words, provides a somber look at the heartache and need in African villages, while bringing encouragement and hope to the reader. Documenting initial efforts, demographics and projects, A Heart For Africa is a good resource and motivator for missions groups, prayer groups and partner churches. Highly recommended reading for anyone interested in the support of hurting people, especially those touched by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
