Meet the Author

M.J. Kane stumbled into writing. An avid reader, this stay at home mom never lost the overactive imagination of an only child. As an adult she made up stories, though never shared them, to keep herself entertained. It wasn’t until surviving a traumatic medical incident in 2006 that she found a reason to let the characters inhabiting her imagination free. Upon the suggestion of her husband, she commandeered his laptop and allowed the characters to take life. It was that, or look over her shoulder for men caring a purple strait jacket. And the rest, as they say, is history.
No longer a television addict, if M.J. isn’t reading a book by one of her favorite authors, she’s battling with her creative muse to balance writing and being a wife and mother. She resides in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia with her high school sweetheart, four wonderful children, and two pit bulls. MJ can often be found hanging out at the local library where she is director of a local writer’s group, or online connecting with readers and other authors. Other activities she enjoys include: creating custom floral arrangements, assisting her children in their creative pursuits of music and art, and supporting her husband’s music production business, 3D Sounds.
You can find MJ on social networking sites, sharing writing tips, talking about music, life, and family. She’s always excited to meet new people. Connect with her via the websites below.

WOW..... AMAAAZING!!! I'm speechless... I absolutely loved this book. The ending was so emotional I was bawling and biting my nails at the same time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AS A MUST HAVE. My first book from this author and believe me, it won't be my last.

Love the story line, was paced just right. I was excited to get to the ending, but than when it came I wanted more. I could relate to the main character in so many ways, even though, I know I've reacted differently in some areas.

Review: "A Heart Not Easily Broken by M.J. Kane was truly a wonderful romantic well written read. This novel is the first of many of Ms. Kane's...'The Butterfly Memoirs' and I enjoyed it...and that being ...'change...the shedding of the old and bringing out the new.' This was definitely a page turner...even though I had read several excerpts... from some of the chapters... but starting with Chapter one till the end you will find this novel a captivating excellent read. How this author was able to do this was simply a work of art. The story was of a young lady named Ebony was "smart, sexy, career-oriented black woman" who was focused on her career to get her D.V.M. degree...and now was there love and romance coming into this picture. Ebony had two best friends... Yasmine and Kaitlyn...who talk her into going to a night club and it was there that she meets Brian..who wasn't black but white. Now what will come of this? Will her life change because of this? Things are looking good for Ebony but changes will come..such as her personal problems with her mentor at work. How is this going to affect her training that was needed in order to make it through her last year of school? During this interracial relationship that was developing with Brian...Ebony fell short when it came to trusting Brian... completely....well she really didn't want to bother him with her problems because he was at this time working on a plan for his 'dream job.' Things seem to go from bad to worse for Ebony ...losing her part-time job..finance...income is not there...possible losing some hours needed to graduate and she keeps all of this a secret. Why? Ebony's life doesn't stop there .... now Brian has left for a three months on a promotional tour and what else can and will happen to Ebony? JAVAN SIMMONS! Now, I don't want to tell any more because at this point I want you to want to read "A Heart Not Easily Broken" to see how this will turn out. What decision did Ebony make that changed the course of her life? Will Ebony be able to get her two best friends and Brian to believe her? Will Brian's 'Heart Not Easily be Broken?' What was the solutions for Ebony and Brian? You will only find out by picking up this excellent read. The characters of "A Heart Not Easily Broken were are all very intriguing and captivating ...showing emotions through the whole novel...from Ebony, Yasmine, Kaitlyn, Brian, Javan to a few others that I have left out keeping you on the edge of your seat and not being able to put this novel down until the end. Be ready for some hurt, trust issues, career and family problems, rape but in the end finding a true love. I really enjoyed "A Heart Not Easily Broken" and if you are in for a excellent romance read I would recommend this to you!

This was a good book about family, friends and true love. Like any other romance story, it took you through a range of emotions and ultimately had you rooting for Brian and Ebony. It gave me enough to want to read the second book in this series..... Strangely, I think I'll enjoy Yasmine's story a little more!

The chemistry between Brian and Ebony is awesome! This IR romance has it all: chemistry, drama, tension and sex! A great read as the author covered ALL the bases on IR issues! I have to read the next one! :)

It's 2012. America has not only elected its first biracial president, it has just reelected him. In light of this reality, one might think that interracial relationships are non-issues in the eyes of Americans. Most of us probably would like to think of ourselves as so open-minded about such relationships that they don't matter. But what if the relationship involves a friend or family member? What if the relationship is yours, and you not only have to think about how you truly feel about it, but what others think? In "A Heart Not Easily Broken" MJ Kane gives us a front row seat in observing the interracial relationship between Ebony and Brian. The story is told from their perspectives, and addresses the challenges, the insecurities and the potential emotional pitfalls that an interracial couple must face as individuals and as a couple. Some of them are common to every couple. Some are unique to interracial couples. Others are uniquely the challenges faced by a white man and black woman who love each other. And if that dynamic weren't enough, Ms. Kane delivers a shocking incident that threatens to destroy Brian and Ebony's love and relationship. It teaches us that in the end, "race" is not as important as the love and trust between two people, and that secrets kept are cancers that can fester and grow until it becomes fatal to the relationship. If you like romantic drama, you will love MJ Kane's "A Heart Not Easily Broken."

I love Ebony and Brian. Both are hard workers with goals and they are likable characters. Brian is persistent and confident without being a jerk about it. Ebony is hesitant about dating a white guy, but Brian is pretty irresistible. I found myself rooting for them when things got tough. This is a wonderful story about the difficulties of interracial relationships, and just relationships in general. I am looking forward to the next book. If you like contemporary romances with steam, I think you'll like this one.
