Inspiring, passionate, and full of love, this is a good book. She is a very good writer who weaves a story that is heartbreaking but in the end warms your soul. This is not a complete autobiography of her life; she does not discuss every single second of her life but instead starts out in the middle of her childhood and then only goes into her teenage life. The book spans about eight years of the author's adolescence, but it goes into great detail about her childhood and adolescence and the friendships that she made with people. There are a lot of really great themes in this book. Part of it is about the author and her mom, the bond that they shared when she was a child, and how her mom got involved with alcohol. It's obvious that the author really loves her mom and that her mom is an incredible woman and was an inspiration for the book. Religion also plays a big part in the book. She talks about how her mom was a very religious woman, got the family involved with the church, and how she got interested in studying other religions. A lot of the book is about the author and her own personal development in the book from a child into a teenager, as she grows and strengthens throughout the story. A very good read.

This is an amazing story about a girl and her life growing up, it will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you feel inspired, a true 'triumph over tragedy' type of book. The author talks about her life growing up with her mom, her mom's alcoholism, how she eventually got placed into foster care. There's lots of twists and surprises in the plot and it keeps you turning the page. Would definitely recommend!
