Overview

Michael Friedan was found murdered in his South Carolina home holding evidence that his daughter's husband was cheating on her. A murder, a motive and an arrest-it should have been a simple case...but it wasn't.

Enter Dr. Susan Kemper, psychologist and forensic hypnotherapist. Susan's domineering husband doesn't want her on this case and the lead detective considers her methods laughable. In fact, the only person who wants her there is Tom Danford, the criminal attorney attempting to prove that his client is not the killer.

Susan has a knack for investigative work and her unconventional hypnotherapy technique might just be the key to unraveling this mystery. However, the deeper she delves into the case, the more her marriage deteriorates.

With the help of Susan's unorthodox methods, connections begin to form between the many scattered clues, revealing a trail of theft, corruption, adultery and murder.

Susan has long hidden her unique ability to enter a hypnotized state with witnesses, but as the investigation builds to a peak, how much longer can she conceal this gift and her feelings from the compelling attorney Tom Danford?

Fun and exciting read, I couldn't put it down. It was rather interesting to see hypnotism used to solve a murder. I think the story line was appropriate and that the romance was certainly a plus. A feel-good read that moves along quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and have mentioned it to others. Also nice to have a new "who-done-it" author with a different approach.

Everything about "A Hypnotic Suggestion" is refreshingly original. Charlotte, South Carolina is the setting, Susan Kemper, forensic hypnotist and psychologist is the lead character involved in investigating the murder of a notable Charlotte citizen. Her sons Phillip and Jeff, fledgling lawyers join her to assist Attorney Tom Danford who is conducting the investigation. Phillip and Jeff bring their youthful enthusiasm and humor to the situation. Susan's challenging relationship with her difficult husband Dr. Michael Friedan, adds more fire to the mix. Nothing is as simple as it seems, yet as the tangled plot is unraveled it all comes together. Soon they may have to organize the "A Hypnotic Suggestion" tour of Charlotte , but in the meantime, I want to find out what Susan Kemper is up to now.

Eureka! There is a fabulous new mystery writer called Allison Jones. Her writing is polished, her story fascinating and arresting. With the very first line you are drawn in and hooked - a rare gift indeed. The characters are real, well-developed and very true to life. Allison Jones has a gift. And what a new character we have in the annals of literature - an investigator who is a psychologist and forensic hypnotherapist. How could you possibly not wish to read about that! It is clear from the way the main character of Dr. Susan Kemper is written that the author is profoundly knowledgeable of the material and field that she writes about. It is also clear that the writer is an excellent hypnotherapist in her own right. There is wonderful information in the book about the field of Hypnosis - information that the reader can use for self-empowerment. This book is terrific fun, great entertainment, and a good read in every sense of the word. Run...do not walk...and get yourself a copy of "A Hypnotic Suggestion". I hope this is the beginning of a new series with Dr. Susan Kemper, Tom Danford and her sons. I eagerly await Allison's next novel.
