Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

Suddenly the lowly apron has morphed from a dowdy Fifties housewife's uniform into a hip fashion statement for the DIY generation. Aprons make ideal sewing projects for beginners because fit is not so great an issue and eye-catching print fabrics and embellishments do virtually all the work in making an apron a one-of-a-kind protective garment for crafters, gardeners, artists, and cooks. Mornu's (Cutting-Edge Decoupage) collection of 25 patterns for a variety of unique aprons (e.g., a practical artist's smock with deep pockets and a crisscross back; a frilly "Marie Antoinette" silk taffeta apron) includes clear step-by-step directions amply illustrated with color photos. A good choice for public library sewing collections.

    Fun

Love this book as I am into aprons. I LOVE THEM AND LOVE MAKING THEM!
However, when going to stores to make copies of the apron patterns, workers are concerned about making copies as they think they are breaking the law so you have to show them in the book where is is OK to make copies.

Author doesn't know how to write instructions for the Summertime blues apron

I've sewn for all my life and I'm here to tell you I haven't found a more frustrating book in all my life. Had to first of all pay to have the pattern enlarged, then tried to put the apron together. Needless to say the instructions and pattern left alot to be desired. After working for 4 hours trying to figure the stupid thing out, I ventured again the next day only to have the apron turn out terrible. you had to have Dolly Parton boobs to make the apron fit! I got so frustrated I ended up cutting the bodice off and just making a waist tied apron for my daughter to wear. Maybe someone else would have better luck, but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, anyone I like that is.....

    Missing so much information

I just got this book and was excited to start on a project. The fabric yardage amounts listed are incorrect on many patterns, there are so many missing/ incorrect steps and confusing directions in this book. I looked all over online for the errata information from the publisher and they do not have any available anymore! I even sent emails to them requesting this information and they have not responded. How can you make anything without the correct information? You can't.

    My recommendation- try another book!

    Sew me an apron

This book is a gift for my daughter. She loves aprons. I am sure she will get a lot of use out of this book. The illustrations are great and very colorful. Maybe, she'll even make one for me.
