Overview

It's almost Winterval and George gets more than he bargained for from his new job when his boss, Ricket the loanshark goblin, targets the old lady who lives alone in the Old Forest. Times are hard but there are things even a troll shouldn't have to lower himself to.

But George soon discovers that Betty Clause is an old woman with a dark secret, a very famous grandson and some special guests in the cellar.

Supported by a cast of half naked elves, angry fairies and drunken gnomes, George finds himself embracing the spirit of the season as only a troll can.

Meet the Author

P.D.Blake is a forty-something writer from East Yorkshire in England. During the day he is a mild mannered software developer. At night, under the cloak of darkness and occasionally under the influence of copious amounts of alcohol, he writes. What he writes is mainly fantasy, sometimes humorous, sometimes not, sometimes short, sometimes long. He has been writing on and off for a number of years, ever since he bought a manual typewriter back in the late eighties, progressing through an Amstrad PCW to the wonderful world of Windows PCs. When not writing he can be found in the veg plot, growing his own and brewing his own to go with it, or just talking to his chickens.

I enjoyed this strange tale. It took me a bit to figure out what was going on, since the language was partly trollspeak. But once I did, the rest of the tale tickled the hell out of me. It could have been a bit more detailed. So you don't spend over half of the time reading trying to figure out what is going on. 12/26/2013
