A 190 page free murder mystery book set in England with a rookie police officer visiting her mother in a village cut-off by flood from a hurricane. The book is well-written but her constantly obsessing over how 'green' an police officer she is, what mistakes she is making, and how she has only EVER had to follow orders before now gets a BIT repetitious. Graphic violence and language with sexual references - definitely adult reading material.

An interesting story, if a bit predictable. There is some fairly graphic violence, especially at the beginning, so caution is advised for young or squeamish readers. There were a lot of British abbreviations for police titles that an American reader is left to guess their meaning.

Not sure what was missing~~~ pages or huge holes in the writing. The heroine was likable enough. Something is just not right . I will try another to make my decision.

Fast moving, kept me guessing almost to the end. Then ended with a surprise or two!

A well-written book which kept my interest throughout. The characters were well drawn and the situations were well described. The villan's identity was too predictable to the reader and to Sara but not to the detective in charge!

His first novel, Journal of Sin, has a unique story line that will hold your attention from the first paragraph. I am a lifelong reader of mysteries, but a priest who keeps a journal that ultimately leads to his death is a new one on me. To reveal any more would spoil the story for those who have not yet discovered this new author who draws upon his background as a detective investigator in the UK. Don't miss it!

All in all, I li m ed this book. Sarah is such a real person with foibles and questions about her abilities to do the job , and Dales is practical and pragmatic, and not nearly so idealistic as Sarah . I think they will make a good team.

I like the storyline and would have given it all 5 stars except I found it a little too predictable. Still it was a good read & a great story. Will read more by this author for sure.
