    A Knight of Silence Review
    By Candace Bowen Early

This book takes place in medieval times around the time of King Henry the 1st and is filled with mystery romance suspense and backstabbing.
Picture it... King Henry's son using a woman to spy on a suitor of Empress Matilda. A deaf woman torn from her betrothed and mocked by all and held against her will. Can her husband and brother rescue her from a tyrannical king hellbent on using this poor woman or will she be doomed to a life of servitude? I would recommend this book to all my friends as it has me turning the pages almost faster than I can read them. I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating.

    Amazing story!

After being ordered to take a wife Baron Fulke of Erlegh finds Reina of Kenwick, a young woman made deaf from childhood illness. King Henry I finds out about Reina's ability to communicate and understand, he puts both Reina and Fulke in a difficult situation that they must find a way out of. With his loyal knights at his side he gets everything he wants and maybe even some of what he didn't.

I bought this book because of a recommendation from a friend. I was never one to read historical fiction or historical romance but I fell in love with this. I had a very hard time not finishing it in one sitting, and found every excuse I could to read just a little bit more, throughout the day. The characters are very believable and easy to like or even love. I found myself so immersed in this book that it was hard to come back to reality. Definitely would recommend this, even to people who are wary of romance or historical books!

Make sure bedtime is a while off!

Baron Fulke of Erlegh has a tragic past and because of it he’s thrown himself into a life of battle and debauchery. When he’s removed from the battlefield and commanded to take a wife, he falls for nineteen year old Reina of Kenwick. Reina is deaf due to a childhood illness and is sent off to a convent by her cold and distant father.

When King Henry I finds out about Reina’s ability to read lips, he coerces Reina to spy for the crown by threatening to harm Fulke. Now Fulke and his band of knights form a plan that could free her or cause all of them to be executed for treason.

If you asked me what the benchmark was for a historical romance is, I would tell you without hesitation A Knight of Silence! This heartwarming work is wrapped in historical accuracy that shows the author truly has a love of the time period. As someone who is knowledgeable about medieval times, I can tell you that Candace has nailed it down to the food and the wildflowers!

The characters are unique in the sense that you will not find a perfect character in this book. They all are very human and their faults are what bring them to life. You will find yourself falling in love with them and often times wondering what happens next. For this very reason, I stayed up way past my bedtime, justifying it with the excuse of just a few more pages.

So I warn you before you jump into this amazing read, make sure of two things. First that no one will bother you until you’re finished and secondly that bed time is a while off!
