Barnes & Noble - Dave Gil de Rubio
In A Knight's Tale, Heath Ledger is William Thatcher, a peasant masquerading as his recently deceased master in order to participate in a local jousting tournament. Writer/director Brian Helgeland takes a contemporary approach towards this period piece, linking this medieval test of manhood to the spirit of rock 'n' roll. As a result, the accompanying soundtrack plays like a perfect classic rock mix tape featuring a plethora of legendary rockers, including Eric Clapton "Further On up the Road", Sly & the Family Stone "I Want to Take You Higher", Heart "Crazy on You", and David Bowie "Golden Years". Helgeland keeps the film's bloody battle sequences moving with ...

Helgeland keeps the film's bloody battle sequences moving with testosterone-laden anthems by Thin Lizzy "The Boys Are Back in Town", Bachman-Turner Overdrive "Takin' Care of Business", and Queen "We Will Rock You". The most pleasant surprises, however, are provided by Robbie Williams, who teams with Queen's surviving members for a sweeping version of "We Are the Champions," and Third Eye Blind on the Pearl Jam-meets-U2 guitar overdrive of "Eye Conqueror." A soundtrack this action-packed is bound to make both your day and knight.
All Music Guide - Brad Kohlenstein
Bachman Turner Overdrive. Thin Lizzy. Heart. Just screams 14th century right? Well, they promised a summer blockbuster, not a history lesson. Aside from that, director Brian Helgeland's decision to pair medieval heroics with rock standards from the '70s actually makes a little sense. True, this is a tale of knights, valor, and, of course, love, but it is also a story of teenage rebellion, boys being boys, and, well, love. These are bona fide classics from the era that cornered the market on youthful freedom rock and romance despite what Daddy thinks. The album opens up like walking into a packed stadium be the sport football or joust, with Queen's bleacher-creature anthem "We Will Rock You." It slides into the funky bassline of War's "Low Rider," and it's all hits from there on out. The collection combines can't-help-but-singalong favorites like "Takin' Care of Business" and "The Boys Are Back in Town" with a couple slightly rarer gems, David Bowie's "Golden Years" and Eric Clapton's blues cover, "Further on up the Road." It closes with two bonus tracks from Dan Powell and Third Eye Blind, which feel like they were literally tacked on to attract the teens likely to make up much of their audience. While they're fine songs, they aren't used in the film and feel out of place here. Fortunately their position at the end keeps them from disrupting the flow of an otherwise well put together soundtrack, which is great for a road trip or storming the castle.

    Fantasy Of Cuteness

This soundtrack is amoung many of the best soundtracks out to be purchased. It gave ''A Knight's Tale'' a wonderful fullfilling experience to be watched. Without the great Moderen Day music chosen for this movie,it wouldn't have been as great. I am always happy to choose this soundtrack to listen to, as my first choice with no thought in mind. I LOVE A KNIGHT'S TALE!!!!!!!

    A total MUST Buy!

This Soundtrack is incrediable. It's a perfect compliment to the movie, ''A Knight's Tale'' which was an automatic classic. Including some great classic Rock tracks like ''We Will Rock You'' -Queen, ''Golden Years'' -David Bowie, ''The Boys Are Back In Town'' -Thin Lizzy, and more, this Soundtrack is a perfect addition to your collection. It also includes two incrediable bonus tracks and the audio from an important speech made in the movie. If you dont already have this soundtrack, there's no doubt about it, you GOT to go get NOW!

    Good music!

This soundtrack is very good, and mainly light-hearted. It's quirky- not quite what you would expect from what appears to be a serious movie- but a serious movie this is not. My personal favorites on the soundtrack are ''Golden Years'' (by David Bowie) and ''Pieces'' by Dan Powell, which was not included in the movie but probably should have been. It's a light, mellow song, with a melody that jabbers around in your head for awhile. I would definitely recommend the soundtrack to anyone who found the movie mildly entertaining.

    It's strange, but it works!

A Knight's Tale is one of the most refreshing movies I have seen in a very long time. Rather than confining itself to your typical medieval film, A Knight's Tale takes risks and becomes unique in that it takes an old setting and creates modern music and fun in it. A fun movie with terrific music, A Knight's Tale is a winner all the way.

    A Knight's Tale

Reading over a lot of reviews I see people were annoyed by the use of 70's music in the movie.. I loved it! It was entertaining at the least. Although it was supposed to be set in .. what? 1320? I doubt many people would've gone to see it if it had not been modernized. I really recommend the movie to anyone.

    Great by me

The movie itself was great; the humor was a nice subtle touch in most cases, and the music was a great addition. But, why isn't AC/DC 's ''You Shook Me All Night Long'' on the sound track? It played during the credits, and it's one of my favorite songs!
