Every family has secrets; only some secrets are lethal. Victoria Costello has written a brave and insightful book about mental illness and our personal family histories. This book made me think about the various troubles in my own family and the possibility that my depression may be linked to my mother’s depression and alcoholism. I am very grateful to have found this book.
