The book begins with a Foreword by Peace Corps Director, Gaddi H. Vasquez that conveys the work of Peace Corps Volunteers and how they exemplify living “a life inspired” Stories are presented within three themes:

Meet the Author

Peace Corps was established in 1961 as a federal agency with a mission to promote world peace and friendship by:
-     helping the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women
-     helping promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served
-     helping promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans
 
Since its inception, more than 178,000 volunteers have served in the Peace Corps in 138 countries, working in such diverse fields as education, health, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, information technology, business development, the environment, and agriculture. Peace Corps volunteers are U.S. citizens and at least 18 years of age. Peace Corps service is a 27-month commitment.
