Harmless, Book 5

Jocelyn Dupree has come to Hawaii to heal. After a horrific experience with her last boss, she is on the mend and ready to start again. She is focused on rebuilding her life and her career as a pastry chef. She definitely doesn’t need a man in her life, or so she thinks.

Kai Aiona has always been the guy to mend a broken heart. Unfortunately, the last heart that was broken was his. He has sworn off damaged women, but he can’t resist Jocelyn’s sad eyes, not to mention her determination to succeed.

One little date turns into several and soon, Jocelyn finds herself easily addicted to Kai’s sensual nature. Resisting him becomes impossible, but Jocelyn isn’t ready to trust completely. When Kai discovers she hasn’t been telling him everything, Jocelyn is left with two choices: trust her heart, or let the one man she has ever loved go.

Loved It - So Sigh Worthy

Book 5 in the Harmless series is finally here. And I'm yelling out have a huge Thank Heavens. I have been enjoying the Harmless series since I discovered the first book A LITTLE HARMLESS SEX and have looked forward to each one on since. So far every book in this series is different. One might have light, fun sex and humor that becomes overwhelming love (SEX) and another might have tones of BDSM with an alpha male finally getting the woman of his dreams (OBSESSION).

Yes more of the books have elements of BDSM but I don't expect it from every book. I like that Ms. Schroeder keeps me on my toes with her storylines and for me that makes a great series. Each book feels and reads fresh.

A LITTLE HARMLESS ADDICTION does not have BDSM. I didn't miss it and quite frankly it wouldn't have fit this couple. That isn't what they are about.

The current installment, ADDICTION, is about Kai and Jocelyn. If you've followed the series you should remember these two from previous books. Kai is May's (OBSESSION) brother while Jocelyn is Chris's (PLEASURE) sister. Both Kai and Jocelyn are trying to recover emotional from their pasts.

I loved that neither were looking for love. That they found something in the other that soothed their wounded souls and brought them together.

Kai and Jocelyn are carving out their out niche in the Harmless series. Sexy, sensual and emotional. People with real problems and worries and finding that one thing they weren't looking for. I can't wait for the next book.

Please keep on writing Ms. Schroeder. I'm ready for more Harmless fun.

    Luke Warm

I love this series from Melissa Schroeder and even re-read the series getting ready for this release. But I have to say I was a little disappointed. The previous books in the series are Hot Hot Hot! This one was only luke warm- there weren't really any steamy scenes. I would love to see a return to the BDSM theme that occurs in the previous books if she writes another book in this series.

    Very sensual

Deviates from the BDSM theme of the rest of the books, but whos going to complain with a hottie like Kai coming to the rescue. Not that our heroin needs someone to carry her over the fire. Find out how a real man romances a woman in the 5th book of the series.

    Just ok

I felt that the overall plot was rushed!!!! The romance came a little too fast!!! I needed more substance and less mundane details.

    Very enjoyable read!

    Review by Jen:
I've been really enjoy the Harmless series and was excited to get an advanced eARC to review. This book follows Jocelyn, who happens to be Chris's sister (hero of book 2) and Kai, the brother of May (heroine of book 3). Both Jocelyn and Kai are on the mend and end up turning to each other, first as friends but the attraction between them is just too much to ignore.

After all the last 3 books in the series were exploring the world of BDSM, it was a little refreshing to leave it behind for a book. Don't get me wrong, we still get some steamy sex scenes, just without the "kinkier" side. And what I've loved about this series all along is how intertwined all the characters are, and how their stories aren't finished with the last page of their respective books, but they continue to grow as the series goes on.

So, back to Jocelyn and Kai. I enjoyed these characters, both are strong with major issues they need to work through before they can commit to each other. I suppose my one "complaint" is that Kai's broken heart seems to be equated with the same level of recovery as Jocelyn's dealing with her stalker (for lack of a better word). But overall, I very much enjoyed this book and can't wait to see who gets starring roles in the next book.

    Loved it!!

I've read all of the previous stories in this series, and I think this may have been my favorite. Melissa has a knack for writing really likeable characters and these two are my favorite so far. I've wanted to get Jocelyn's story since A Little Harmless Pleasure. And to see her with Kai! What a great pair.

I love that Melissa understands what works for each character. BDSM would not have worked for these two, and I like that she stayed true to that.

    I devoured this in hours!!!
