Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Two board books by Julie Merberg and Suzanne Bober introduce the works of world-renowned artists to the youngest audience. In each, lyrical text accompanies 10 masterpieces. A Magical Day with Matisse, for example, features his famous ring of dancers in Dance II ("Let's dance and fly, hold hands and sing, and spin round and round in a rosie ring"). In the Garden with Van Gogh includes Sunflowers, Irises and The Starry Night. Back matter contains a list of the paintings and the museums in which they appear. Intro to Art

My two year old loves the rhymes that the author uses to create a story around Matisse's art.

My daughter has quickly memorized the poems on each page and I think it makes the art more interesting to her.

I intend to get other books in this series so that my child grows up able to recognize the style of different artists.

The book is very sturdy. It is perfect for a young child.
