I saw the movie and having been completely entranced and inspired by it, knew I had to read the book. Of course there is much more detail in the book and so all the more packed with inspiration and insight. This is not your usual preacher. Besides his life being filled with adventure, struggle and success, Peter Marshall's preaching style was so different that often it was standing room only in the churches he pastored. The reason was not his eloquence or education alone, but a real and vibrant relationship with his Savior. He was known to make Jesus seem real to people as he preached and taught. People hungered for that same, passionate knowing of God. Catherine Marshall, his wife, did an outstanding job of telling the story of her husband's life, faith, and ministry. I couldn't put it down.
I picked this book up and couldn't put it down. The faith of Dr. Marshall, and his closeness to God challenged me to examine my own life as a Christian. There are some books that leave a lasting mark on you when you read them, and inspire you to higher limits. This book is one of those.
This book was amazing! I learned so much. It made me cry in the end when Dr. Marshall died.
