A Marine and a Gentleman [NOOK Book]

Overview

Lieutenant Brenden Fitzpatrick is a dedicated Marine, loyal son, and devoted uncle, but he's lonely. When he went Marine, the rule was don't ask, don't tell. His brothers-in-arms pretty much didn't ask and didn't care. Watching so many friends settle into long-term relationships highlighted the absence of someone to come home to in his life. When his unit encourages him to give the 1Night Stand service a try, he asks for the impossible—a night with the one man he almost gave up the Marines for in the first place....

When his unit encourages him to give the 1Night Stand service a try, he asks for the impossible—a night with the one man he almost gave up the Marines for in the first place. A man he called best friend but let time and distance carry away.

Liam Gardiner grew up on the same Boston block as his best friend, Brenden. Unlike Brenden, Liam always accepted that he was gay—a fact he didn't mind flaunting to all the bullies and naysayers in school. It got his ass kicked more than once, but Brenden always had his back, rescuing him time and time again, until the day Brenden left for the Marines. He missed his buddy—the crush he never confessed, lest it cost him the precious friendship—so when Madame Eve's invitation to meet Brenden arrived, Liam faces uncertainty for the first time.

Life made them best friends, can Madame Eve help them become so much more?

Meet the Author

Heather Long lives in Texas with her family and their menagerie of animals. As a child, Heather skipped picture books and enjoyed the Harlequin romance novels by Penny Jordan and Nora Roberts that her grandmother read to her. Heather believes that laughter is as important to life as breathing and that the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus are very real. In the meanwhile, she is hard at work on her next novel.

One of my favorite m/m stories!

Decadent Publishing's 1Night Stand stories are notoriously short, and for Heather Long's Always a Marine series, that's part of what makes the books stand apart from all the other military romances out there. A Marine and a Gentleman is a particular favorite of mine because of the existing dynamic between the two characters. Good friends since high school, our guys have each had a crush on the other and were never able to explore it (or even admit to it!). Their one night stand has heat, heart, and the possibility of a happily every after, even if we only really get to see the happily right now. I also really enjoyed the brief appearance of some of the other couples from the Always a Marine series and references to their stories. Excellent short read that doesn't require you to read the rest of the series!

    m/m

Lieutenant Brenden Fitzpatrick is a dedicated Marine. He is also gay. He has known all his life he was going to be a Marine. His best friend growing up Liam Gardiner, was flamboyantly gay and always assumed that Brenden was straight so when he gets a call from Madame Eve's 1NS service saying that Brenden now 32 wants a date he doesn't know what to think. When these two old friends meet again they have to push through the past, deal with the present and hope for the future.

This is one sweet sexy tale. These two men are sizzling hot and super sweet. I hope they get their hea but even if they don't their 1NS is sure to set off the smoke alarms.
