Overview

Two Lives Torn by tragedy.

Eight-year-old Becca and twelve-year-old Hunter cling to each other and life after surviving a plane crash which stole their families.

Two Souls Seeking Love.

Each year, from the time she was old enough to travel on her own, Becca met up with Hunter on the island that altered their lives forever.

Until he stopped showing.

Her constant. Her link to the past. Gone in the blink of an eye.

Two Lives Bound by Secret.

Suffering more heartbreak, Hunter returns to the one place he’s always sought comfort, the island where he and Becca met. It was the place that stole from him, and in the same instance gave to him. He hasn't been back or spoken to Becca in four years.

Though he’s sure she must hate him for disappearing, Hunter discovers the girl gone, now a woman in her place. Hunter is determined to prove to Becca he isn’t the same twelve-year-old boy of yesteryear.

But someone isn't happy about their reunion...

Strange things begin happening. Letters start showing up in their hotel rooms and at home with cryptic messages.

Two Broken Hearts Heal as One.

With the mystery unsolved, Hunter convinces Becca to spend the remainder of the summer back home with him, both for safety and to give them a chance to discover the adults they’ve now become.

Will love get a chance to blossom, or will the past come back and tear the masterpiece of their love apart once and for all?

I so enjoyed this book. I read it on my Nook and had to charge the battery for a short period of time so that I could read the last of it. It was a wonderful novel and cannot wait to read the rest of the trilogy.

I made the mistake of reading book#3 before I read 1 and 2. But I am so glad that I got to read this I was so wrapped up in this story. I could feel myself growing to connect with the characters as they went though their tragedy, heartbreak, romance and yes even suspense of what was to come. If you are looking for a feel good solid read then you might want to check this one out.

This author needs to take writing lessons. The subject matter is somewhat interesting, although the plot is in NO way believable. However, without some serious editing, these 3 books are simply not worth the read. Any individual who calls themselves a writer should be able to correctly use ITS vs IT'S, MAY vs MIGHT, PIECE vs PEACE, RUGGED vs RAGGED, ALTER vs ALTAR, and countless more... and they should *certainly* be able to use YOU AND I, YOU AND ME, SHE AND I, etc appropriately. Some of these issues were probably caused by auto-correct - but what so-called author does not value their work enough to proofread it before publishing? In addition, colloquialisms such as TAKE WITH do have a place in conversation between characters, but *not* in descriptive passages. Worse, the writing in all 3 books was choppy and did not flow at all. There were huge gaps in the story in some places, while in other places the writing was unbelievably repetitive and boring. The author belabored point after point, even using identical phrasing over and over again. The main characters were "one-note ponies," over-drawn in their responses to traumatic incidences in their lives, yet we never really felt as if we knew them on any other level besides a (fairly limited, just repetitive) discussion of PTSD. They seemed to wallow in their angst: there were hundreds of pages of WHINE, which could easily be pared down and streamlined by a judicious editor. There was no reason for this series to even *be* a series. It could, with work, be reduced to *one* decent book. If this work was submitted to me by one of my writing students, I would give it a grade of C- and expect that it be rewritten. The author has some good ideas, but has MUCH to learn.

I always enjoy reading one of Nikki Lynn Barrett’s books. She has a way of making me connect with her characters and I feel like I’m right there with them experiencing all their emotions. And this book had a lot of emotion. My heart strings were tugged in multiple directions. From the start I liked both Becca and Hunter. Their story held my attention and even though this is part of a trilogy I didn’t feel cheated in the end at all and am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Thank you Nikki for always giving me an emotional, interesting read!
