I. Was. Mesmerized. A Melody for James hooked me from the first to the last sentence. I loved not knowing what was going to happen next. I was on edge the entire time and simply couldn't put the book down. I admire the way Hallee Bridgeman intermingled the characters faith within the mystery. It was wonderful. After reading the book I tossed around aspects of the story in my head of the subtle things I missed that finally came together in the end. This is the first book I've read by Hallee Bridg

I have read other books by Hallee Bridgeman (you can read my reviews of them here) but this book is my favorite by far. She gives you real characters with real problems. I love how she integrates faith into the story without out "beating you over the head with it." She also keeps her books clean and classy. There are several twists and turns in this story that will keep you on your toes. Once you start reading this book you will not be able to put it down! A Melody for James is a must read for a

I've enjoyed all of this author's work and her latest is no exception. It has an engaging and suspenseful plot (I couldn't put it down and ready into the early hours of the morning)and is has characters who act and react realistically while still being Christian, yet without their faith feeling forced or an intrusion to the plot (just like real people).

Take the time to pick up this book and read it and you won't be disappointed!

This book was AMAZING. The absolute worst part of the book was when I flipped the last page over and realized that there wasn't any more to read. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I couldn't read it fast enough. Every single one of Hallee's books suck you into her world and take you on a wild ride. Meet the Author

Hallee Bridgeman lives with her husband and their three children in small town Kentucky. When she's not writing Christian romance or suspense novels (hallee.bridgemanfamily.com), she blogs about all things cooking and homemaking at Hallee the Homemaker (http://www.halleethehomemaker.com).

Hallee started writing when her oldest child and only daughter was a baby, but a busy professional career and being the wife of a deployed soldier had her shelve her books for another time. Two more children, a cross country move, and God's perfect timing brought the books off of the shelf to be dusted off and presented to you now.

Hallee loves coffee, campy action movies, and regular date nights with her husband. Above all else, she loves God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength; has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ; and relies on the presence of the Holy Spirit. She prays her books are a blessing to you and would love to hear back from you. You can reach Hallee using the contact information listed on her website.

After reading the other books Halle has written, I was excited to read this one. She did not disappoint me at all. From the first page to the last, I was kept on the edge of my seat. The suspense is great. There is a great amount of romance also. The story revolves around Melody and James, how they met, and the people who are out to harm her. You meet Melody's family and her music family. James wife was murdered near the beginning of the book.  This book kept me up past my usual bedtime, to read "just one more chapter' which ended up being 3 hours later! I can't wait to read the next in the Song of Suspense series "Aria for Nicholas". I recieved the book from the Book Club Network in exchange for a honest review.

A Melody for James was great! This is the first of Hallee Bridge

A Melody for James was great! This is the first of Hallee Bridgeman’s books that I’ve read and I loved it. As a worldwide adored country music singer/performer, Melody Mason is loved by everyone she encounters…except for the psychopath who wants to kill her. James Montgomery is a brilliant man who is working on a billion dollar project. But when his wife and project are attacked, he falls into a downward spiral of depression.

Melody and James cross paths accidently and the unexpected happens. But when she endures a horrific attack, Melody rejects God and chooses fame. She and James long to be together but can’t seem to find one another through the chaos. Somewhere in the shadows, the psychopath who connects them is determined to finish the job of destroying them. God’s plan is bigger though and through the craziness, he brings purpose and redemption to both Melody and James.

I found the book to be a nail biting, page turner from the beginning. The suspense, romance and intrigue were woven together into a wonderful tale. This is a great book and definitely the first of many of Ms. Bridgeman’s books that I’ll be reading in the future. I loved the way she told a great story and incorporated the ways of God into a fantastic Christian read. I received this book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

    Captivating suspense!

I received a free copy of this book through The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

James Montgomery while still mourning the murder of his beloved wife has a chance meeting with beautiful Melody Mason. She is also dealing with her own grief at the time. As he saves her from a troubling situation they both feel an unexpected connection. Before they can see each other again disaster strikes and they lose contact with each other.

Years later incredible events finally reunite them once more. By this time Melody has become the hottest female country singer. Together at last, they realize that the bond they felt at their first meeting has not died. They know that God paired them for a purpose. But sinister forces are threatening to destroy their rediscovered happiness. They must work together, placing all their faith in God as they solve the deadly mystery that binds their lives inexplicably together.

I loved the great characters that Hallee developed for this story. They are easy to connect with. The plot is very intricately woven and kept my interest throughout the book. I was actually hooked by the story before I even finished reading the prologue. She also included a lot of details about what would go on behind the scenes at a concert that I found fascinating. A few of the twists that she included I was able to guess at but there were many more that caught me by surprise. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

A wonderful suspense novel full of twists and romance!

I had heard of Hallee Bridgeman's books but hadn't read any of them, so when I got the chance to read and review A Melody For James, a suspense book, I jumped at it. Suspense/Mystery is one of my absolute favorite genres and I do have, well, standards I suppose. A Melody For James met those standards and exceeded them! I never quite know what to expect when I read a new-to-me author, usually I enjoy the book, and this time was no exception.

The characters, good ones that is, are likable and believable. This isn't just an average who-done-it with shallow characters and non-stop action. The hero and heroine especially are very well developed, their thoughts and emotions are detailed. In many ways A Melody For James is also a study in character and how circumstances and faith shape it.
James doesn't have much place for faith in his highly intelligent and scientific world – until his wife dies – until he meets and then loses Melody.
Melody had a rough childhood with a demanding mother, she then lost both parents tragically, in spite of it she holds to her faith – until Richard betrays and nearly kills her – until stardom gets in the way.
Both characters learn and grow. They struggle through love, loss, fear, and finding their way back to God.

One of the things I really liked about this book was the struggle for forgiveness. James and Melody both have a difficult time forgiving the people that did this. So often in Christian Fiction forgiveness is stressed but then is tied up in a neat package at the end of the story; not so in A Melody For James, forgiveness is a journey. One of my favorite lines explains this quite nicely,
“Melody was not that strong, though she wanted to be. She would have to find a way to ask God to forgive her for all of her hateful thoughts about him. She would have to pray for the strength it would take to forgive him. It would take reading her Bible, praying, and asking James to help her.”

This was a great suspense story that will keep the reader saying “just one more chapter” until the book is done. There are a few twists thrown into the plot and just when you think the story is over, it isn't. I have to admit that I did partially figure some of them out before they happened but I think that comes from reading way too many Agatha Christie stories and always trying to pick out the guilty party or parties.

I would definitely recommend A Melody For James to suspense lovers. This may have been the first book I have read by Hallee Bridgeman but it most definitely will not be the last. I am hooked on this series for sure!

This is the first book by author Hallee Bridgeman that I have read, and I must say, I am soo glad to have found her books! A Melody for James is a beautiful story of what I would call "Divine Moments!" Don't get me wrong…. this isn't JUST a mushy gushy love story, Oh NO! It is filled with suspense, romance, and plenty of "who did it?"

Melody's journey is one filled with doubt & heartache and only God can reveal HIS love and HIS Faithfulness to her. When we lose our way and our Faith takes a hit, God knows just the thing to do to open our eyes to see HIM again, despite the hurt and pain we are facing!

James has dealt with a huge loss and while he is grieving, he is determined to not allow the pain separate him from the Lord or to allow unforgiveness to take root in his heart! Hallee Bridgeman writes the character of James so beautifully!

Somewhere in the mix of all of this, these two finally find one another in that very "Divine Moment".

A Melody for James is a MUST READ! A true 5 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥'s for sure!! Thank you Hallee Bridgeman for allowing me a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!! I LOVED IT!!

A chance meeting, a broken date and 4 years thinking of each oth

A chance meeting, a broken date and 4 years thinking of each other come together when James happens to see a magazine with Melody on the cover. Little did either of them know how close theirs lives have been linked to each other all four of those years, or how close their pasts are intertwined.

Hallee Bridgeman's novel, "A Melody for James", is a novel of love, mystery, suspence and God's divine guidance. Brought back together at just the right time. James helps Melody renew her faith in God and together with God's love and guidance, they are able to defeat the same evil that permeated both their lives.

Hallee's writing will keep you glued to the pages. She shows through her writing how people live everyday in their walk with God - through the good and the bad - and how fear and anger transform to paitience and forgiveness in their walk with God.

"A Melody for James" is an excellant suspense, mystery

"A Melody for James" is an excellant suspense, mystery and love story all rolled into one. The main characters, Melody, a country music star, and James, a creator and researcher of technology, meet, are seperated, and then come together again. That sounds like a love story, but if you read this book you will begin to realize how many secrets, plots and mysteries are contained in these pages. Once you start reading you will quickly be drawn into the suspense and intrigue. I had a hard time putting it down!

Hallee Bridgeman has made her characters appealing and exciting. Her plot continually twists and turns, keeping the reader guessing till the end. "A Melody for James" contains a physical assalt, attempted murder, murder, fancy cars, travel, car chases and, the best part, a strong element of faith. You will also find love, forgiveness and random acts of kindness. If you decide to read this book I do not think you will be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book. It is packed with loss, love, danger

I really enjoyed this book. It is packed with loss, love, danger, excitement, sinister plots, exhilarating success…the list goes on and on. It is the story of two people who have both experienced loss and pain in their lives. Melody experienced a huge betrayal and James lost his wife, Angela, to a murderer. Is it possible for there to be a happily ever after for Melody and James?

There is just so much to this story that it is hard to write a review that really does it justice. It was a very hard book to set down. I always found myself wanting to read just a little bit more. Then, I would find myself thinking of Melody and James and their situation even when I wasn’t reading the book…wondering what would be next for them! It is a testament to good writing when an author can make their readers so very invested in their characters.

I also enjoyed the detail with which the life of a superstar was described. I really was able to feel like I was there, watching Melody and her crew rehearse and perform. Very good attention to detail in all of the scenes led to a very believable book. I felt the same way about James. Getting a peek at his brilliant mind and watching him do his thing with technology.

As always, there was a strong element of faith in the story. Real people dealing with real struggles and learning how to turn to the Lord for help. I highly recommend this book to readers who love romantic suspense.

This story quickly draws you in to the suspense and intrigue of the story. I found it a bit confusing in the beginning as a sorted out the characters and the story, but it didn’t take long for me to be drawn in so much that it was hard to stop reading. There are many twists and turns to the story – just when I thought the story was drawing to a close, a new twist would appear and the story would be off on a new adventure. There were times I would think I had figured out the “villains” only to have a surprise turn of events. The love story between the two main characters and the intertwining of their lives kept me cheering for a happy ending. You feel their struggles as they take each step toward healing and coming together. The author seemed to take great care with the technical aspects of the story, which makes me get more involved in the characters. A great story for anyone who enjoys a story to keep you guessing, that is also full of faith and emotional growth.

As one who has played piano since I was 4 years old, the title alone caught my eye. Behind the cover is an incredible story of intrigue, romance and lots of music. Melody is an incredible composer of music with lyrics - all written on whatever scrap piece of paper is handy. James is a brilliant mind in the field of computer software. Between labs exploding, people being shot, kidnapping and more, the reader is left breathless at times, wondering if the heroine and her hero will even survive! A very well written story. I know this reviewer can hardly wait to read the second book in the Song of Suspense series.

I was absolutely enamored with this book. I had a hard time putting it down. When I had to, it was only to find my chores, etc. done quickly so that I could quickly get back to it! I gave this book 5 stars. I truly love the story line as well as the suspense the book threads you into. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Reading the agony Melody goes through only to end up in touch with James, who has had a rough life, again after that long time frame left peace in my heart. Suspenseful and nail biting at times when the roses showed up and even more nail biting when Hal gets shot. Keep up the great work!!!

Another excellent book from Hallee Bridgeman!
I really enjoyed A Melody for James, the first book in the Song of Suspense series! I was hooked in the first few chapters and couldn’t put it down! I found the storyline quite intriguing and it really held my attention. I kept trying to find a good stopping point, but every time I would say, “one more page” or “5 more minutes” something would happen I would have to keep reading to find out that part was going to work out!
The characters are a bit unusual and not quite what you might expect (or at least, not what I‘d anticipated). I have to confess that I didn’t like Melody or James much at first. Melody seemed like a diva and James was a bit too analytical. But the more I read, the more engaged in their story I became, the more they grew on me until I found that I really did like them. You can also see a change in their attitudes as they become closer to God, which may be part of the reason that I liked them more the further I read.
I appreciated how the story would come from a couple different perspectives per chapter. I think this added to the depth of the story, allowing the reader to see what several of the characters are thinking about whatever event was currently unfolding. Though, this was a little confusing at times, as once in a while it would change in the middle of a paragraph, without a clear definition between the individual thoughts.
My only disappointment with this book is how it was ended. While Melody and James’ story is concluded and can be read as a stand-alone, we are left with a bit of a unsolved mystery, hopefully to be continued in An Aria for Nick.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian romantic suspense.
I received this book through The Book Club Network for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have received no compensation for it.

The main character, Melody, is met finding her fiancée with another woman on their wedding day. She went on their honeymoon alone, leaving the man at the altar alone.
James loses his wife in a suspicious explosion...a crime that continues to go unsolved.
A short meeting between the two holds great meaning for both and is not forgotten...no matter the time or distance. They lose each other, but neither one forgets.
We find James finding peace and solace in Christ during this time while a Melody shuts God out of her life. The story follows the transformation of their hearts as well as their lives.
The book follows a sinister plot that affects both James and Melody in different ways.
It was an exciting, engaging read that I enjoyed very much. Although I had figured out there was only one to prosper from Melody's demise, there was some amazing twists and turns that kept the pages turning. The main characters are well followed. They seem to jump right off the page with their intense traits. I was easily pulled into their lives and situation. My only negative is in places it seems to drag and the book seems long.I could blame my literature teacher here, who ingrained us that if fewer words could be used, they should.
I would recommend this book. It was well written and the plot pulls one into the story. It was a very enjoyable read.   I received this book free from the Book Club Network and the author, Hallee Bridgeman, for the purpose of reviewing. The opinions stated above are my own.

    Melody for James
    By Hallee Bridgeman

I have so enjoyed all the books that Hallee has written. I like it that they are Christian backed, Great clean books.
Melody of James is based to me on love and faith and trust. A girls dream is to find Mr. Right. Wedding all set then find out he is having affairs. That would make a girl be careful on finding another guy. There is a guy that comes into the story, James is a widow wife had been murdered. He has his eyes on Melody. This book will keep you on edge so be prepared to keep reading and not put it down. I have loved all of Hallee’s books.

Although this novel has the same sweet, sensitive and understand

Although this novel has the same sweet, sensitive and understanding male character, readers should not confuse this series of suspense novels with Hallee's Jewel Trilogy. I love an author who is able to cross genres, especially from sweet romance to intense intrigue and Hallee does an exceptional job! From the first page where we are given a glimpse into James' wife Angela and the exhilaration she brought to their marriage, I was thrust into adrenaline action. This continues right until the last page where a satisfying ending is achieved.
I was impressed at how Hallee brought in the forgiveness factor, and how the characters reacted to it. I wonder if that is why some of our own incidents end the way they do, because we have not availed ourselves of this opportunity? The thread of salvation, though not overt as in some novels, is there, but I do not think that that will in anyway turn those away that do not appreciate this in a novel. Conflict is evident, both internal and external forces as they join forces against evil. Many questions do arise in this novel, not necessarily for the author to answer, but ones the reader may ask themselves.

I received this book free from Fred at Book Club Network and the author, Hallee Bridgeman for the purpose of reviewing and promoting. The opinions stated are my own.

Hallee Bridegeman's novel, A Melody for James, is a highly engaging, suspenseful story that will entertain all mystery fans. The author skillfully combines two worlds: the country music scene and high-stakes technology. She creates sympathetic, appealing characters and intriguing, plausible action. The plot continually twists and keeps the reader guessing till the end. This novel will not disappoint. jcr61312

A Melody for James, Part 1 of the Song of Suspense series by Hallee Bridgeman
Melody Mason was all set to marry Richard but broke it off the day of the wedding. After her solo honeymoon, she meets James Montgomery a recent widow by chance in the airport. They hit it off and spend the day together. They have plans to meet again but a tragedy keeps them apart. For the past four years James has been on her heart and he has thought of her often, wondering what happen. By chance they meet again at the preparation of her sister Morgan’s wedding. They fall head over heels in love and soon wed. While trying to combine the busy lives of a famous singer and traveling computer genius they find their lives in jeopardy. Where will James’s strong steadfast faith and Melody’s newly re-found faith lead them? They seem to be one step ahead of a crazed maniac but for how long. Somehow the death of James’s late wife and Melody stalker have a common denominator but what is it and will the mystery be solved before it’s to late to live a life of true happiness that God destined for them. The author does an outstanding joy of working faith into this novel. And her tale of forgiveness in action is inspiring. They way the characters handle betrayal with the highest level of respect and dignity is admirable. I can not wait to read the next book in this series. The author Hallee Bridgman is an excellent writer and I highly recommend this book to all fans of Christian, romance and suspense fiction lovers. I want to thank the author Hallee Bridgeman and publisher Olivia Kimbrell Press for writing and bring good clean Christian books to readers like me.
