A Memorial Volume of the Proceedings of the Seventh, Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Reunions of the John Bean Association for the Years 1903, 1904, 1905 and 1906: Held Respectively at Concord, N. H., Newburyport, Mass;, Derry, N. H., And Lawrence, Mass
Excerpt from A Memorial Volume of the Proceedings of the Seventh, Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Reunions of the John Bean Association for the Years 1903, 1904, 1905 and 1906: Held Respectively at Concord, N. H., Newburyport, Mass;, Derry, N. H., And Lawrence, Mass
In compiling the present issue two purposes have been foremost: first, to make it in some worthy sense a memorial of Mr. Drummond by bearing printed testi mony to his worth and our thankful memory of him, as well as by giving the genealogical record of Mrs. Drummond from the fourth generation down as her husband had prepared it; and second, by recording and sending forth the illuminating and invaluable address given by our kinsman, Azel Ames, M. D., at the Law rence meeting in September, 1906. This address resumes the work where Mr. Drummond had been compelled by his too early death to leave it, verifies and completes in many respects the researches which he and our late estimable Secretary, Dearborn G. Bean, had made, and succeeds in planting our family on those actual foundations for which at his death he was labori ously seeking. The labor of our genealogist, Dr. Ames, was immense, and the results are beyond ordinary estimation.
This pamphlet also contains the proceedings of all the meetings since its last predecessor was printed, the lists of attendants and the usual necrological announce ments and memorial sketches.
Never has our Association stood on so adequate a basis of well-proven facts and traditions, and the prospect of possessing a written family history before long which, in completeness, will equal that of any other American family, is encouragingly bright.
