Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
It's time to decorate the Christmas tree. Ruby is ready; she brought out the boxes of ornaments. Max and Ruby have different ideas about decorating the tree. Max has steered his wagon of toys up to the tree. As Ruby begins to hang the long chain of popcorn on the branches, Max finds a spot on the tree for his toy boa constrictor snake. Ruby admires each ornament as she finds a spot on the tree to hang them. Likewise, Max enjoys the interesting toys that he places on the tree. When they are nearly finished with the decorating, Ruby notices that she forgot to put the star at the top of the tree. Unfortunately, she can't reach the top of the tree. Max ponders for a moment and he comes up with a plan. The story is based on the animated series, "Max and Ruby." Those children who are familiar with the books about Ruby and her younger brother, Max, will enjoy this holiday story of siblings who have different perspectives but still respect each other's differences. Delightful Max and Ruby story

This is a typical Max and Ruby story. Delightful! My 3-year-old grand daughter loved it. Yes, she is a BIG Max and Ruby fan. But the story is cute and engaging even for a child not familiar with the characters.

max and ruby lovers will delight

As soon as my youngest son saw this he just knew he had to have it - and we read it for probably 2 weeks straight until Christmas. It is told in the same fashion as the show, not like the original Max and Ruby books. I guess I prefer the old style better, but the kids loved this. Mine even wanted to decorate a tree with toys just like Max after reading it!

    more from this reviewer

    Great for children

My daughter loves the television show Max & Ruby and loves this book as well. It was similar to one of the shows she has seen so she enjoyed following along with the story. The typing is fairly large which is nice because I can point to the words as I read and help my daughter to recognize them.
