This particular play has many exciting characters, that often go against societie's norms during the early 1900s. Often the situations in the play are comedic, and even more ironic. In the beginning many of the characters are introduced, and actually I believe Shaw goes into too much detail, but many of their personalities are revealed and this intoducion foreshadows events that happen later in the play. Misalliance is a well done play in that not only does if focus on men¿s traditional roles, but women¿s traditional roles as well. Throughout the play these roles are rejected by both men and women as their true personalities are revealed. Women take the roles as the aggressors, and are chasing after the men, while old men are trying to court women much younger than them. The most interesting aspect of this play is that what it really does is goes into respectable, and even noble lives and shows that even though these people may be wealthy or powerful they too have skeletons in their closets. I usually do not like plays, but I truly liked this play and found myself laughing out loud because the men truly make fools of themselves in this play. Was this review helpful?
