A story that will inspire children to follow their dreams!

Intrinsically motivated, a mining mole from Timmins, Ontario embarks on his first adventure and leaves the comfort of his home to explore above ground. The success achieved in the first journey is the catalyst leading our hero to even more adventurous exploits as the sequel finds Cole going around a town that is much further from his hole. Cole later explores a playground in the third part of the "Cole the Mole" trilogy and, again, revels in his feelings of autonomous accomplishment. All three adventure-stories are unique and will capture the imagination of children who enjoy exploration as well as those who dream of becoming more daring in their approach to the world.
"Cole the Mole and a Whole Lot of Hole," the first of the "Cole the Mole" trilogy, began as a section of a grammar portfolio while completing graduate studies at Columbia Teachers College in Tokyo. It has since become a double volume book featuring a beautifully illustrated story and fun mini-chants. There are downloadable online audio resources available and they include the story being read (piano background), as well as the mini-chants (percussion background). There are also assessment worksheets for testing understanding and included in this resource is a game board print. These stories teach prepositions and phrasal verbs of motion and the rhythm and rhyme of each page can provide learning opportunities for young learners in their phonemic awareness growth. Teachers and parents alike will find this trilogy to be a valuable resource for inspiring independence, imagination and a love for reading.
The second story entitled "Cole the Mole Goes Around the Town" is a wonderful story that will support the learning of young children regarding direction, occupations, buildings, and modes of transportation. It is also a poetic story and will promote phonemic awareness. The third story entitled "Cole the Mole at the Playground" has as its main teaching focus prepositions in unison with vocabulary associated with children playing and the equipment found at a typical playground. These completed stories have not yet been submitted to any publisher and have been illustrated by the same talented graphic designer.
The artist, Michael Elwin Setiadi, is an illustrator and game designer who resides in Surabaya, Indonesia. Currently working at Ciputra University as both Lecturer and Quality Assurance staff, he also runs a small freelance art studios called CaTZ! Studio. He graduated as an architect in 2002 and upon graduation went to work for a small game developer in Jakarta called Matahari Studios. Later, he worked for Mitra Antar Perkasa. These job opportunities allowed for honing his skills at illustration, game design, and project management; he remains involved in many kinds of projects in many different kinds of platform such as PC, gameboy advance, playstation, iphone, and arcade.
