Overview

Ryan Cosgrove and Liliana Delgado are on a collision course with destiny. They don’t know it yet, but before the night is over their lives will be forever changed.

Spending Valentine’s Day at a burlesque bar, hadn’t been Liliana’s ideal way of spending a Friday night. She’d much rather be back on campus doing homework… until she meets Ryan. Tall, athletic, and gorgeous, Lili can’t keep her eyes off him, and despite his gruff manners and drunken disposition she’s intrigued.

Ryan’s got demons, and they’re deep, dark, and eating him alive. Regardless of his attraction to the petite brunette he’s tired of fighting, of pretending the last fifteen years haven’t been a daily struggle just to get out of bed every morning. That night he decides to end his pain, to leave it all behind and float away into the blessed darkness of oblivion. But fate has other plans for him, Lily finds and rescues Ryan, determined she’ll not only save his body, but his soul too.

This is their moment…

Meet the Author

Marie Hall has always held a dangerous fascination for creatures that go bump in the night. And mermaids. And of course fairies. Trolls. Unicorns. Shapeshifters. Vampires. Scottish brogues. Kilts. Beefy arms. Ummm... Bad boys! Especially the sexy ones.

Then the day came she realized apart from the sexy bad boy she married, there'd be no vampires/shapeshifters/mermaids/fairies/or even stinky trolls in her future unless she wrote about them. More often than not she can be found roaming the wild, lush tropical forest she calls her backyard (a.k.a. Hawaii) and day dreaming constantly about her latest project.

Her Mad Hatter is the first book of her Kingdom Series.

    A Moment by Marie Hall
    The Moment Series Book 1
Ryan Cosgrove is a man with demons. The biggest night of their haunting is on Valentines Day and it has once again arrived. This year he’s tired of fighting them, at twenty-five he’s been fighting this battle for fifteen years. He’s made the decision this will be the last year. Then the unexpected happens, a green eyed beauty enters his life and she’s determined to save him.

Liliana Delgado has had quite a hard life. Pregnant at a young age, an autistic son, her mother is ill and more. She has chosen not to date in the seven years since her son was born. The one night she agrees to go out with Alex, only as friends, her life changes. Lili likes to try and save people and Alex’s cousin Ryan is definitely in need of saving.

This story is intense at times. It is worth reading but don't go into it thinking it's a warm and fuzzy romance. You'd be disappointed. There is definitely romance but the road to love is definitely an unkept back road, bumpy with plenty of deep ruts. Ryan had something really bad happen when he was young and he’d rather bury it then tell Lili the truth. Only when you bury things that aren’t dead, they find a way to always come back. Book two in the series will be Alex's story, Right Now.

    A Moment Book Review

The author did an excellant job tackling serious issues in this novel. Issues such as rape, teen pregnancy, medical conditions are severe to all that are affected. I felt every emotion each character was going through, I cried, laughed, anger, and I was happy with the way the story ended. This novel really touched my soul.

    Headache Inducing

Ryan is dark and has a horrible secret. Yeah, I got that the first 50 times it was stated....just get on with the story already! The story just lagged and then dragged for me. I have read reviews that said people cried while reading this book and I'm completely perplexed by that notion. I was able to finish the book by just skimming. The author doesn't explore the victim's feelings other than to say he hates himself and feels dirty. I'm sure the second book will be something along the lines of 'Alex feels guilty and hates himself'. No thanks, I'll spend my time and money elsewhere!

This was a really great story. Very fleshed out characters and dealt with some serious subject matter in a well done way. I really enjoyed the characters and the story line.

There are some editing issues, but not so many that you can't overlook them.

    This book is so good!

I thought I was going to cry over Ryan's story! This book and these characters were so real, so down-to-earth, it was amazing. Lili was a good character, determined to save Ryan but she was strong enough to give him tough love. She wasn't preachy or goody-goody but she was real. Ryan's past was heartbreaking, he so wanted to conquer his demons and be "normal." He thought he was weak but it is amazing he survived what he went through. I wanted to stand up and cheer at the end.

It was refreshing to read a story about every day people and their problems and how they find love. I like the "tortured billionaires" and regency romances but it was easy to identify with these two and root for them to make it.

This romance is far from a fairy tale, and yet it is full of real emotions.

In an instant, everything changed. Fatality or destiny are playing good or bad pranks to get you on the path laid out for you.
Believe it or not but how many times have your hear strangers say: "it had to happen", "it was written" ... Fate ? Or coincidences ?
Here the author focuses on the intersecting roads. Moments that make the difference.

The characters have difficult, traumatic lives and are trying to fight with the cards dealt always advancing to become a better person. Of course, sometimes the demons and agonizing fears resurface and take over. But there is always someone out there for you.
Certainly, having been burned by the harshness of life, it leads people to be more suspicious, more cautious but the only thing that one can not control, it is love.

I liked that the characters are dented by life. This gives depth and relief to this reading, may be a bit heavy on the sad emotions but it's a beautiful love story.
Despite strong and poignant subjects, pity has no place in this story. And it's a good thing!

I also liked that the author speaks openly about autism, suicide, illness without falling into excessive pathos but just to make the picture real and plausible. Life is not always a fairy tale. Princes and princesses sometimes come with emotional baggages but that does not stop them to try to be happy.

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**

Warning: This Book talks about difficult subjects
This is a Series Book (I can’t wait for book 2!)

Like any book this book has its grammatical errors. But the book definitely has a lot going on from just about every angle, and neither character had a dull day.

Liliana; no whiny heroin here and I loved it! She is a young determined mother who does not by any means have an easy life. However, with everything on her plate she is able to persevere and show how dedicated she is in providing a life for her family. I loved watching her son blossom; I hope there is more with him in the second book.

Ryan is a definitely a man with his demons. However, I love that Marie Hall was able to shine the light on his humanity and how he is an Alpha male through and through. The scene with his father made me feel absolutely horrible for him to the point where I wanted to reach into the book and shat the sheyet (Thanks Alex) out of him.

Speaking of Alex, loved him also. The weight he carried on his shoulders was in no way meant to be lessened I hope that he was able to heid his own advice and speak with someone (in the second book maybe?).

I was sad to discover that Lilliana never realized where she knew Ryan from (maybe in the second book?)

Over all I really enjoyed this book. Two Thumbs up from this avid reader!!

    Fair

Dont know where these readers got the 500 page book at, my book was only 200 pages. It was very distracting with the chapters going from one character to the other. It made it very difficult to figure out who was talking. Several times i had to stop and go back to re-read just to see who it was. It got redundant with Ryan constantly thinking I'm bad. Enough already. Didnt care enough to bother reading anymore in this series. Especially when the autistic son miraculously was cured. Dont think that happens in real life!

    Luke warm

I go back and forth on this novel. While I like the idea of taking on such important topics, I found the book manic. I would rather have explored more of Ryan's true demons rather than be distracted by the multiple tragedies. There were just so many sub stories that I honestly feel the end was rushed when it didn't need to be. I truly liked the characters. I liked the chemistry. I liked hearing the male and female perspectives. I thought the language was appropriate for the age group the author is writing about and for the apparent socio-economic group of the characters. Quick read.

I loved this story!! Liliana & Ryan are very real, very relatable characters, both coping with past & present issues that hit home with me. Their poignant, heart-felt story pulled me in from the beginning as they alternately told it from their personal perspectives in turn, and it was an emotional roller coaster ride to the end, love being the definitive. Well done, Marie!! I would absolutely recommend this book.

    Bummer

I was intrigued by the description of the book, so I got it. I couldn't read past the first few pages because of the language used. I personally can't read such language so I didn't even finish the book which made me sad because I wanted to the story. SO the only reason I am giving this story 1 star is my dislike of strong language.

    Good story

I enjoyed the storyline of this book and I liked how you really get to know the characters. However, I thought it could do with a little less cussing on Ryan's narratives. It just makes it vulgar to me. This was a very realistic and relatable story though.
