A New Day Has Comeby Celine Dion
A New Day Has Come marks Celine Dion's return to recording after a lengthy maternity leave, and charts the pop diva's growth as an artist and as a woman. Although Dion's songs have always been about the power of love (she wasn't mincing words when she titled her 1997 blockbuster Let's Talk About Love), maternal rather than romantic sentiment fuels her fire this time out. As she gushes on the uplifting title song (penned by '80s one-hit-wonder Aldo Nova), "Where there was weakness I've found my strength/All in the eyes of a boy." And Dion's lovefest with motherhood doesn't end there. On the heartfelt, country-tinged "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)," the chanteuse muses, "There is no other love like a mother's love for her child," and on the anthemic, gospel choir-accented ballad "Prayer" -- which recalls Faith Hill's equally poignant "There Will Come a Day" -- she describes children as "the light" and "truth of spirit in flight." Along with newfound maternal instincts, the new songs reveal a more spiritual and edgier Dion. The songbird with glass-shattering chops sounds a bit like Sheryl Crow on the bluesy, honky-tonk rocker "Ten Days," but the lyrics still reach skyward: "Ten days I've seen the rain/Comin' down on a sunny day/But all I've got to do is pray and pray." Dion, however, hasn't stopped singing about romance altogether, and the soaring ballad "Have You Ever Been in Love," as well as her solid renditions of Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy" and Etta James's "At Last" should satisfy her lovelorn fans. It's obvious that for Celine Dion, A New Day Has Come.

''a new day has come'' is a great song.actually this whole album is really fantastic.thumbs up for celine!!!!!!!!1
I know that even though she has not sang in the past two years that, whatever she comes out with are going to be a hit with me. And I will always buy her albums even though I have not heard any songs from it.
I won't overate it yet, but i will say that even though i am not as obsessed as i was two years ago i will still listen to her music, because she is such an inspiration.
I am so glad that she has come back so quickly! I absolutely LOVE Celine's music!
I gave the album a 5 star review, so as not to kill the grading curve. Most people only take the time to write reviews if they like the material. Sure, the occasional person will give an album a zero rating if they hate the artist, but this usually happens only when someone that has an axe to grind writes the review and is not objective. I just wanted to sound off about people writing reviews of things they haven't heard!!!! How do you know you won't hate the next album????!!! Sure you probably like her last albums, but how do you know that this album won't be the ''Celine Dion perfoms the Beer Barrel Polka and other classic Polka hits''? Please reserve judgment until you actually hear the material!!!! Thank you, I will gently get off my soap box.
I agree with the last reviewer's opinion that we can't really judge this album until we hear it for oursleves. It may very well be ''Celine sings Polka'', or some other such nonsense, as he suggests. Truth be told, though- this Diva's track record speaks for itself! If this album is anything like her last dozen or so (recordings in both English AND French, I might add!) then it's sure to be an instant hit, if only for the fact that people have been waiting for it for so long and are sure to buy it like crazy! I must say that I too am glad to see Celine back so soon, and I don't think that her short absence from the business is going to have any negative impact on her career. I'm sure that both her fans and the various charts will attest to this. Anyway, welcome back, Diva!
I've heard about 4 songs from this album I have downloaded, I cannot wait till it comes out, because I'll rush to the store to get it. In the songs I've heard she talks about her new born son, and how she was waiting for him These songs are soo sweet. It's so impressed how she can express her feeling to her son and share it with the world. She is the greatest and very inpirative.
Definitely the most anticipated album to be released in the music industry. I can confidently say that she has done it again...A new day has come not only in Celine's life but also for the millions of fans in the world waiting so anxioulsy to hear, again, her angelic voice. Have already heard ''Sorry for Love'' and can only ask all of you to get ready for an amazing ''vocal'' comeback of great ballads and a voice that only goes on and on...Celine you have captured the essence of delivery of emotions in such a brilliant way through your music. As a fellow Canadian I can only say that I am proud of you...Keep it up DIVA!!!
I think celine dion rocks. She is so awesome and she has a powerful heart tugging voice
Definitely Celine's best English album yet! Her style is more defined and refreshing. It is SO great to see Celine dominating the music world again and her title track ''A New Day Has Come'' is the perfect ''comeback'' ballad! Best of luck to Celine!!
I also haven't heard Celine Dion's new album, and have to therefore base my opinion on her previous work...In doing so, I fully expect another over-dramatic, emotionally absent, over-produced, underwritten, ode to Celine from the new album...About as genuine as Britney, and nowhere near as talented an actress, Celine appears to repel talent on every level....
As someone fortunate enough to have gotten the chance to hear this work before it's release(I won't reveal how, sorry), I can only say that Celine Dion will never let her fans down. As a professional singer, I look at an artists technical skill as well as the entertainment factor. All that I can say is that I only wish that I could be half as talented, vocally, as she is. Her voice is ethereal, angelic and full of substance, it reaches to god in a way I could only dream of being capable. Congatulations!, Celine, on another sucessful album, I'm positive it will be a hit.
I didn't think it was possible for Celine to get any better but I was wrong. ''A New Day Has Come'' is one of her best albums to date!! I think the birth of her son has helped re-define her style a little. She has a fresh new sound with a lot of the songs. Taking a break from show business to re-charge has certainly paid off for Celine. I highly endorse this album and of course us loyal Celine fans will enjoy the gorgeous collage of photos on the inside. I can't stop listening to it!!
I bought the album and all I can say is - WOW! Simply incredible. She left the game at the top and came back just as strong. Songs show her maturity as a person and her happiness as a mother and wife. She is in a wonderful state in her life and is taking us along for the ride. Her voice soars as always but with added depth and inspiration. GO OUT AND GET THIS ALBUM!
The first time I heard Celine, in 1991. I could not stop listening to the cd. her voice was so fresh. Like nothing you had ever heard before. Eleven years later it still seems like that first time. I enjoyed this CD allot. Her voice still sounds brilliant. You never get tired of hearing it. My only complaint is small. A couple of the songs I could of did without. The song ''At Last,'' a A little to bluesy for my taste. And ''Nature Boy,'' A little to Old School for me. That kind of diversity I can do without. But hey that's only a couple of songs. The rest is pure Celine Magic.
OUt of all the Celine Dion songs that I've heard this Celine album is the best out of all of them put together.
I particularly enjoyed Celine's rendition of ''Nature Boy'' , very simple and untricky; her astonishing ''I Surrender'' and mature ''A New Day '' prooved that, like good wine, she can improve with age. But not all her material is worthy. She sings well, for sure, has probably the greatest voice of pop music, but her songs... too often overproduced, too often shallow, could be chosen with more taste, have more depht... A few more years, some adversity should do the job and make Celine really great!
This album is excellent and rates a 5 after listening to it over and over. She is back and has not missed a beat. I am ready for her gig at Caesers Palace.
I have been a fan of Celine's for many years, she has made me smile, cry and want to dance and sing along. On her new album i found a new ''softer'' Celine on many of the songs. Its as if she no longer as anything to prove! Yea she still uses her 5 octives to full advantage on ''I surrender'', , ''Have you ever been in love'' and a few others but in general her vocals show a restraint and maturity.I love this album...the same Celine with a nice twist....listen to ''Rain,Tax(I'ts inevitable), and 'Im Alive'' , ''Ten Days 'and see for youself. Thank you Celine , you were missed!!!!!
Although I am a Nigerian but I like the song to my nervous in which I will probably say it is incomparable.
A MUST BUY!!!!!!!!! WHAT A COME BACK!!!!
I do like Celine Dion, but I found most of her other albums to be a little boring, with only a few songs worth listening to. But I've listened to her new album, and it's a lot better than the others. I think it's definitely worth the hype that she's getting. She's back, and she's better than ever.
This album is just as good as her others if not better. I've loved her for years and this cd shows (again) what a great singer she is.
I love the song ''a new day has come''. It has touched something deep within me. I never tire listening to it. A new day has indeed come for me.
Celine Dion has always had a georgeous voice and a several great hits. However, her new album has depth, character, and wonderfully soothing feeling. A New Day Has Come is a beautiful song and a wonderful tribute to her baby boy. Her rendition of Nature Boy is fabulous. I love this album and will highly reccomend it to anyone. Way to go Celine! What a return!
