Serving as an album to bring in the night life atmosphere found in classic jazz clubs, Night on the Town is a wonderful compilation of classic jazz and big band music. Featuring many of the genre's most important artists, there are few weak tracks among the 32 songs found on these two discs. The best songs seem to belong to the female vocalists; wonderful performances from Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Ella Fitzgerald are sprinkled throughout the compilation.
