I have read this book twice. Once as a senior in high school considering a career in medicine and once as a college graduate entering medical school. This book begins to provide the answers to how to balance a career and a family. She proves that it is not only possible, but even LOGICAL, to have a child in medical school. Klass's take on medical school is authentic and exceedingly insightful. She divulges the good and the bad of the transformation that occurs during medical school. She admits that she was changed by the process, which is something most doctors seem reluctant to divulge. My husband is a physician and he agrees that her experiences are universal and therefore very helpeful for a med-student-to-be to become acquainted with. This book gives you so much to think about as you go through the application process for medical school. I have found no other book of this kind and I can't wait to read Klass's other works.
