School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 7-10This biography recounts the life, accomplishments, and selfless devotion of one of our country's outstanding black citizens. Patterson traces Randolph's poor childhood in rural Florida, his youth in New York City, and his adult work as a labor organizer and civil rights leader. The writing is a bit dry and pedantic for the intended audience, but overall the book compares favorably with several other available titles. Average-quality black-and-white photos and reproductions appear throughout the well-documented text. A useful resource for reports.Judy R. Johnston, Auburn High School, WA
