Usually novellas feel unsatisfying, but A Pressing Engagement was wonderful. For fans of the series, it is a treat to see Kiera and Gage get ready for their wedding. They still manage to puzzle out a quick mystery or two before the big day, though, and stay true to their characters. I'm looking forward to their next adventure.
A joyous celebration that the reader has been eagerly anticipating for the past few books with a few mysteries thrown in. A great read.
An author friend recommended Anna Lee Huber's 'Lady Darby Mysteries' to me late last summer. Since she already had 4 out, I had the pleasure of reading them one right after the other. Now comes the long awaited novella with Kiera and Gage's wedding. I loved every moment and it seemed more like a full book than a novella. Lady Kiera Darby discovered that, besides being a very talented artist, she has a distinct knack for crime solving. Sebastian Gage, inquiry agent, is reluctantly forced to admit to himself that she is indeed quite good at what she does. So they work together solving crimes, becoming more than just partners, eventually falling in love and now, marriage. Anna Lee Huber is a very talented writer. Her historical research is awesome and her descriptions of everything in her books is enormously interesting. Her characters leap to life on the pages and the books are riveting from the first page! I love them. If you enjoy historical mysteries, look no further. Anna Lee Huber is the author to watch. Her books are clean, too. And...she has a full length novel due in July, 'Death Draws Near' featuring the newlyweds Gage and Kiera. I can't wait! I've preordered already.
