This was an excellent light romantic read. The characters were engaging and the story line was entertaining. Diana is a school mistress trying to reach her brother after receiving an urgent summons that didn't state what it was about. In route to her destination she is drugged and kidnaped. Escaping she stumbles into the arms of the Jared, Lord Burnleigh who believes that she was in cahoots to steal his pocketbook of money. As she has passed out in his arms he has no other choice but to take him home with him since he can waist no time to reach home if he is to get there before his grandfather succumbs to the sudden illness that has swiftly overtaken him. Jared seeing his grandfather so close to death has concocted a plan to ease his grandfathers passing with the knowledge that he is about the marry and has brought his fiance home. Diana being at his mercy has no choice but to go with his plan or he will turn her into the magistrate for a crime she didn't commit and refuses to believe she didn't have anything to do with.
The rest of the book follows how the two learn that there is more to the other then what they first perceive. While it could be thought that Jared was chauvinistic and almost a woman hater with his spiteful views of them it was nice to see that he was able to admit he was wrong about Diana. Diana was a wonderful character, with a kind and generous heart, that I couldn't help but love from the first moment I read about her. I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read another from this author.
